Job Description Job Title: New Builds Technician Job Description The New Builds Technician supports the planning, staging, configuration, and quality assurance of new customer communication system builds. In this role, you prepare and assemble equipment, program radios and related devices, perform functional testing, and ensure all work meets established quality and safety standards. You work closely with project teams, sales, and operations to deliver fully tested and documented systems that are ready for deployment. Responsibilities • Prepare and stage equipment for new customer builds, ensuring all required components are available and organized for assembly., • Configure and program two-way radios and related communication devices according to project specifications and build templates., • Perform functional testing of radios, RF equipment, and associated hardware to verify proper operation and system readiness., • Follow detailed written build instructions, templates, and documentation to complete assemblies accurately and consistently., • Use hand tools and basic bench equipment to assemble, wire, and secure electronic components and accessories., • Conduct quality checks on completed builds to confirm they meet internal standards and customer requirements., • Document all work performed, including programming parameters, test results, and configuration details, in the appropriate systems or forms., • Coordinate with project teams, sales, and operations to clarify build requirements, resolve issues, and ensure on-time delivery of projects., • Troubleshoot basic electronic, wiring, and radio-related issues during the build and test process, escalating more complex problems as needed., • Operate computers and standard office software to perform data entry, maintain records, and communicate via email., • Handle and move equipment and materials safely, including lifting items over 30 pounds, while maintaining a clean and organized work area., • At least 1 year of experience in a similar radio, communications, electronics, or technical assembly role is preferred., • Experience working with two-way radio platforms such as Motorola, Kenwood, or ICOM is preferred., • Ability to read, understand, and follow written build instructions, templates, and technical documentation with strong attention to detail., • Basic computer skills, including data entry, working in a Windows environment, and using email; training can be provided for the right candidate., • Ability to operate standard computer applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word., • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate information clearly., • Ability to use hand tools and basic bench test equipment safely and effectively., • Hands-on experience with radio systems, RF equipment, or radio frequency concepts is a plus., • Previous exposure to Motorola radio equipment or systems is an advantage., • Experience in electronics, electronic assembly, wiring, or production environments is beneficial., • Troubleshooting skills related to electronics, wiring, or radio equipment are highly valued., • Experience working as a bench technician or in a similar technical support role is a plus. Work Environment This role is primarily based in a technical workshop or production environment focused on assembling, programming, and testing radio and electronic equipment. You will regularly work at a bench using hand tools, test equipment, and computers running Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word. The position involves handling and moving equipment, including lifting items over 30 pounds, and requires attention to safety and organization in the workspace. Work is typically performed during standard business hours, with tasks centered on equipment preparation, electronic assembly, wiring, and functional testing in a structured, process-driven setting Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Garland, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
