Job Description For Those Who Want More Than Just Another Job With Teens Real Impact, Real Lives, Real Growth At Eva Carlston Academy, our Behavior Technicians (Youth Mentors) don't just supervise adolescent girls—they become essential architects of recovery for young people facing complex trauma, severe depression, and debilitating anxiety. If you're tired of jobs where you never see the results of your work, this position offers something increasingly rare: the chance to witness and directly contribute to transformative change in young lives. What Makes This Different From Other Youth Work • Homes, not institutions: You'll work in beautiful residential homes in Olympus Cove, not sterile facilities, • Structured, proven approach: You'll implement the Teaching Family Model—a clinically validated behavioral system that actually works, • Cultural enrichment: Regular off-site activities including Utah Symphony concerts, Pioneer Theater productions, Utah Royals soccer matches, and museum visits, • Part of the clinical team: You'll work directly with our talented therapists and academic teachers to implement treatment plans, get kids back on track with their education, and provide valuable behavioral observations, • Career launching pad: Perfect stepping stone toward becoming a therapist, social worker, or behavioral health leader Our Youth Mentors don't just clock in and out—they become meaningful figures in our students' journeys. You'll guide them through morning routines, academic achievements, emotional breakthroughs, and evening reflections. The relationships you build and the skills you model become the foundation for lasting change. The Challenges (Because We're Upfront About This) Residential treatment is demanding work. You'll be supporting young people through intense emotional struggles, setting boundaries, and maintaining a structured environment even when it's difficult. Some days will test your patience, your emotional reserves, and your problem-solving abilities. The shift work (7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm) and required weekend shifts (Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday) aren't for everyone—but for those who thrive in this environment, the rewards are incomparable. The Details • Salary: $18.50-$20/hour base pay with 25% weekend differential and double pay for holidays, • Benefits: 100% employer-paid medical insurance (yes, really), dental, vision, 401(k) with 4% match, paid time off, • Education Support: Generous tuition assistance for those pursuing careers in mental health, • Requirements: Bachelor's degree in psychology/social work preferred OR 2+ years residential treatment experience (Must be 21+ and pass background check), • Physical Requirements: Must participate in morning workouts, hikes (3-5 miles), and stay active throughout the day This position is ideal for individuals who: • Are building careers in psychology, social work, or behavioral health, • Thrive in dynamic environments that require both compassion and structure, • Want hands-on experience with evidence-based therapeutic models, • Seek meaningful connections and measurable results in their work About Eva Carlston Academy Eva Carlston Academy is a specialized residential treatment program where therapeutic care is woven into every aspect of our students' experience—from sophisticated clinical interventions to art therapy, academics, life skills, and recreational activities.
