Job Description We are looking for a skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at the corporate headquarters in Denver, CO. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects in Civil, Earthworks, and Environmental sectors, supporting all of the company's potential projects, with the majority of current work and upcoming opportunities at the Stibnite Mine Development Project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction cost estimation and a thorough understanding of project requirements across these specialized areas. The position involves occasional travel to project sites, such as the Stibnite Mine Development Project in central Idaho, to gather critical project information and ensure accurate estimates. The Senior Estimator will report directly to the Vice President of Operations. Key Responsibilities • Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil, earthworks, and environmental construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs., • Analyze project plans, specifications, and site conditions to determine scope, quantities, and cost factors., • Travel to project sites as needed to collect data, assess site conditions, and collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate estimates., • Prepare bid proposals, quantity takeoffs, and cost models for competitive bidding processes., • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to develop project proposals and validate estimates, identifying cost-saving opportunities., • Exhibit the ability and patience to develop accurate cost estimates for projects with underdeveloped scopes and engineering details., • Conduct risk assessments and incorporate contingencies into cost estimates., • Adhere to company standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations during the estimating process., • Maintain an organized and up-to-date database of cost information, historical data, and vendor pricing. The Sr. Estimator will perform a variety of tasks critical to Iron Woman Mining Services’ projects, including: • Cost Estimation: Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for civil construction, earthworks (e.g., excavation, grading, embankment), and environmental reclamation projects., • Quantity Takeoffs: Perform detailed takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment based on project plans and specifications., • Site Assessments: Conduct site visits to evaluate terrain, access, environmental conditions, and other factors impacting project costs., • Bid Preparation: Develop competitive bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of costs for labor, materials, and subcontractors., • Vendor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost accuracy and competitiveness., • Cost Analysis: Analyze historical project data and industry benchmarks to refine estimating accuracy., • Risk Management: Identify potential cost risks and propose mitigation strategies or contingencies., • Project Collaboration: Work closely with project teams to align estimates with project goals and schedules., • Database Maintenance: Update and maintain a cost database with current pricing, labor rates, and equipment costs., • Quality Control: Ensure estimates meet project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations., • Software Utilization: Use B2W Estimate, the company’s primary estimating software, alongside tools like Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel for takeoffs and cost modeling., • Travel Support: Travel to project sites to gather critical data, verify site conditions, and support project planning., • Documentation: Maintain organized records of estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation for future reference., • A minimum of eight years of experience in construction cost estimation, with a focus on civil, earthworks, and environmental projects., • Proven experience as a senior estimator in civil construction or related industries, with a track record of accurate and competitive bids., • Proficiency in B2W Estimate, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)., • Strong understanding of civil construction techniques, earthworks processes, environmental reclamation methods, and cost estimation practices., • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail., • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse project teams and stakeholders., • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, • Performance-based bonus for meeting project bidding and cost accuracy goals This position is located at the corporate headquarters in Denver, CO. The Sr. Estimator will mainly work from the office but will occasionally need to travel to project sites, such as the Stibnite Mine Development Project in central Idaho, to collect project information. Travel schedules will vary depending on project requirements, and the company will cover travel expenses. The typical work schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to accommodate site visits and project deadlines. Iron Woman Mining Services and our current long-term project, the Stibnite Mine Development Project, operate under the supervision of both OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration). Specifically, onsite activities related to cost estimation are governed by MSHA regulations, requiring the Sr. Estimator to complete MSHA training for site visits. All employees will undergo comprehensive training to obtain the necessary certifications for their roles, work locations, and tasks.
