Job Description Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week; shifts based on operational need of the organization; hybrid work eligible. OVERVIEW Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) employs student-focused professionals with equity-mindsets. Established in 1963, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation led by a 14-member board of elected student leaders. ASI is an auxiliary organization authorized by the California State University Board of Trustees to perform Student Life functions for Cal Poly Pomona students. ASI provides opportunities for student engagement, student leadership and employment, and a multitude of Student Life programs and services e.g., recreation and wellbeing, student union and activities, student government, clubs and organizations, food pantry, and childcare. The administrative and student support areas of ASI include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. ASI employs approximately 500 part-time students and 60 full-time staff members. ASI accepts the responsibility for conscientiously managing mandatory student fees and state-owned facilities: $18M annual operating budget, $5M annual debt service, approximately $24M in reserves, and 294,253 square feet of student space (student union, recreation center, and pool). ASI is in the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 28,000 students. With a commitment to learning, continuous improvement, and innovation, ASI is looking for a dynamic team member who supports team learning, co-creation, radical candor, psychological safety, growth mindset, and lives out equity, diversity, and inclusion practices POSITION DEFINITION Under the general supervision of the Director of Organizational Effectiveness, the Learning & Development Manager leads the development, communication, implementation, management, and evaluation of the learning organization curricular plan, organizational training experience development, and the employee professional development program. The Learning & Development Manager supervises the synchronous and asynchronous training and development areas with two full-time designers; Senior Instructional Designer and Senior Learning Experience Designer and their respective teams, including but not limited to, Instructional designer assistants, LMS assistants, Learning Experience Assistants, and L&D Project Assistants. ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Leads the development, continual improvement, implementation, management, and evaluation of the learning organization curricular design and plan, curriculum design, instructional training experience, professional development program, and organizational learning management systems, • Manages the L&D Unit, including but not limited to, the recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, development, coaching and overall management of the Senior Instructional Designer and Senior Learning Experience Designer and their respective teams; Instructional designer assistants (4-5), LMS assistants (2), Learning Experience Assistants (2-3), and L&D Project Assistants (1)., • In collaboration with stakeholders, responsible for enhancing, presenting, and managing the organizational strategic learning plan, • In collaboration with key stakeholders, responsible for oversight of the assessment and evaluation of the strategic organizational and individual learning plan, curricular plan, course delivery, and learner outcomes, • Oversees the development, enhancement, implementation, and evaluation of the expanded employee professional development model and program, • Manages the design, development, effective implementation, assessment, and enhancement of the professional development program (and fund) oversight, to include, but not limited to dynamic application structure and process, and program budget, • Assists programs with learning outcomes for the submission requirements of ASI PolyX programs, • In collaboration with key stakeholders, leads the overall planning and delivery logistics of Learning Organization courses and organizational training initiatives., • Oversees the development, implementation, and assessment of organizational learning credentialing and badging system with university personnel, • Prepare, present, implement and administer the organizational training and development budget; prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations; responsible for final costs, • Oversee professional development and training external agreements with vendors, negotiating contracts and reviewing insurance documents, as needed, • Develops and facilitates organizational education development and leadership programs, as needed, • Participates in campus-wide collaborations that serve the overall mission of the department, ASI, the division of student affairs and the university, • Attend all trainings, meetings, and workshops as required Minimum Education and Experience: • Master’s degree in Education, multimedia learning, instructional design or other instructional related field, or equivalent, • Minimum five years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, instructional content creation and development, and learning management system development, • Three years of progressive staff management and supervisory experience, • Functional knowledge of assessment, evaluation, and research related software, including but not limited to, Qualtrics, CampusLabs, MS Forms, Tableau and other survey, data, and statistical tools; preferred, • Considerable knowledge of learning managements systems and instructional design tools, including but not limited to Articulate and Canvas, • Experience with xAPI/SCORM and emerging learning technologies, preferred, • High functioning knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, • Demonstrated effective communication, analytical, and technical skills with the ability to tell a compelling, story with data, • Knowledge and understanding of assessment and evaluation methodologies, • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, • Role model the behaviors of ASI core values, constantly challenging one’s mental models as an active learner, • Assist with creating and operationalizing strategic assessment plan, • Assist staff with assessment methodologies, • Assist with dashboard development, • Synthesize information and write reports, • Experience working with culturally diverse populations, • Participate as a positive team player, • Be self-motivated, self-responsible and self-accountable, • Be an innovative, active learner, have a genuine want for continuous improvement, and embody ASI’s core values, • Demonstrated commitment to student development and ability to motivate and work closely with students., • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, form partnerships, and work effectively as a member of a goal-oriented team, • Oversee projects, achieve assigned objectives, and manage multiple priorities, • Maintain an appropriate professional appearance and work conduct, • Make independent decisions and recommendations, • Adhere to work rules, follow directions, use time effectively and work productively without close supervision, • Follow routine verbal and written instructions, • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, • Analyze and solve problems, draw valid conclusions, and develop alternate recommendations Based on the duties and responsibilities of this position, this position has been designated to be a sensitive position.
