Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Production Print Room Operator is a motivated and detail-oriented individual, who takes ownership of our in-house print operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to essentially run your own print shop inside our facility, managing print production that directly supports our manufacturing and shipping operations. The Print Room Operator will set up, operate, and monitor print equipment while producing and inspecting printed materials, and will coordinate closely with production and warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate output. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, managing their workflow, and taking pride in producing high-quality work. The successful candidate will have the chance to develop expertise with specialized equipment, improve processes, and play a critical role in keeping production running smoothly. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: • Workflow management, pre-production file prep and proof creation, large format inkjet printer operation, UV printer operation, trimming, etc., • Generate print-ready artwork files and proofs; transfer customer-provided art to appropriate software to ensure best possible print quality and timely production, • Review graphics, layouts, and fonts before production is complete to ensure customer requirements and WCC quality expectations are met, • Utilize appropriate software to edit, retouch, and/or reformat images and logos to maximize print and digital format quality, • Utilize knowledge of color-theory and color-matching to adjust image and/or printer settings, • Follow policies and procedures to ensure printed items meet demand expectations, • Work with Customer Service and Production departments to provide exceptional customer service, • Proactively communicate and escalate issues with equipment or orders to appropriate team members and follow up to ensure matters are resolved, • Attend meetings and participate in prioritizing workflow with department leads; align goals and objectives with applicable departments, • Guide print room assistants using clear communication to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment, • Regularly perform defined maintenance on daily, weekly, monthly schedules. (ex: head cleaning/changing, light maintenance), • Troubleshoot printing issues and coordinate applicable help from internal maintenance team and/or vendor support while minimizing downtime, • Maintain supplies and request consumables (ink, paper, etc.) on a regular basis to ensure appropriate materials are available for continued and timely production, • Maintain and update records (i.e. templates, proofs, etc.); archive as appropriate. Participate in the creation of new work instructions, as needed, • Log time associated with work orders for costing purposes, • Other duties as assigned EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE • PC, Large Format Roland Inkjet Printer, Direct UV Printers, • Illustrator, InDesign, Versaworks, Kothari KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES • Detail oriented with ability to trouble-shoot and problem solve, • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, • High degree of enthusiasm, a can-do attitude, and strong commitment to delivering results., • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics., • Reliable and Punctual, • Able to work independently as well as part of a team in a growing environment, • Ability to communicate, interpret, and provide instructions orally and in writing EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum of two years’ training or equivalent experience in design and printing, • Experience with large format Inkjet and UV printers, • Be proficient with computer design and office automation tools such as Adobe CS application (Photoshop. Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Roland Versaworks), Corel Draw and Microsoft office applications. Strong knowledge of Pantone. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must have visual acuity. Must be able to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time and have ability to climb ladders or stairs occasionally.
