This is an exciting opportunity for a whole time (10 programmed activities and on‑call) appointment as a Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our supportive and forward‑thinking Gastroenterology team at United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS , based at Lincoln County hospital. This is an fixed term post to developed to support the expansion of gastroenterology and endoscopy at Lincoln County Hospital. Any applicant who is unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. The successful post‑holder will: • Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a consultant‑led service with the highest standards of patient care, • Work with the multi‑professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines, • Develop and maintain good working practices, • Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services and primary care, • Provide support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues and other members of the multi‑disciplinary team This post is to meet the growing demand for gastroenterology services across the county in addition to supporting daily senior review of 10- 20 inpatients at Lincoln County Hospital and the emergency upper GI haemorrhage on‑call rota. Any applicants with an interest in ERCP would be regarded favourably. The post sits within the department of gastroenterology and managerially within the speciality medicine business unit. It is anticipated that with this post the eight gastroenterologists will work as a team to ensure robust and appropriate cover of the wards and gastroenterology referrals. Teamwork is an essential requirement. The post‑holder will take responsibility for their continuing professional development (CPD) and will be supported by the Trust when appropriate. The post‑holder will also be required to be committed to ensuring their revalidation is completed and up to date. For further details regarding the job role please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification. • MBBS (or equivalent), • GMC Registration with Licence to Practice, • MRCP (UK) or equivalent, • Advanced Life Support certificate, • Higher research qualification, • Extensive experience in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine at senior, • Proven competence in independent management of acute and complex gastroenterology inpatients and outpatients, • Significant experience in diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy, • JAG accreditation (or evidence of working towards accreditation), • Experience participating in GI bleed or equivalent on‑call rotas, • Ability to manage clinical risk and complications safely and effectively, • Subspecialty expertise in gastroenterology or endoscopy, • Experience in teaching undergraduates and Post graduate trainees.
