This rolefocuses on penile cancer and andrology services. The Trust is the Supra-regionalcentre for penile cancer surgery covering a population of 3.2 million. You will join a high-performing team delivering high-quality care across elective andemergency pathways.The post includes timetabled theatre lists, outpatient clinics, flexiblecystoscopy, and participation in the weekly Urology Cancer MDT. In-housementoring will be available to support development in Penile cancer andandrology surgery, as required. Our department operates across a wide geographical area in the NorthEast, serving a population of over 1,000,000. We are a designated Cancer Centrefor Urology, offering advanced procedures including robotic surgery,cryotherapy, and reconstructive techniques. Proposed Interview date: Monday 23rd November This post focuses on penile cancer andandrology services. The successful candidate willcontribute to the assessment and management of patients with suspected andconfirmed penile cancer, working as part of the established multidisciplinarypathway and contributing to specialist outpatient clinics, diagnostic services,MDT working and surgical management. The post holder will also support andfurther develop the departments andrology service, including the assessmentand management of erectile dysfunction, Peyronies disease and otherandrological conditions, with the precise scope of specialist surgical practicereflecting the successful candidates training and experience. Alongside their subspecialistresponsibilities, the post holder will contribute fully to the deliveryof core and general urology services within the department of 15Consultant Urologists. This will include general urology outpatient clinics,diagnostic and operative activity, management of acute and emergency urologicalconditions, inpatient care and participation in the Consultant Urology on-callrota (1 in 12). The successful candidate will be expected to workcollaboratively with consultant colleagues and the wider multidisciplinaryteam, contributing to clinical governance, audit, teaching, service developmentand the continued delivery of a high-quality, efficient and patient-centred urologyservice. South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust The postholder will join the existing team of consultants and will participate in theon-call rota. Overallresponsibilities include the co-ordination and delivery of the strategic andoperational aspects of the Urology Services across Sunderland and SouthTyneside and the wider sub-regional catchment area. These will reflect National and Localpriorities including the strategic direction of STSFT and the Directorate of Urology. The postholder is expected to possess CCT or equivalent and to be on the GMC SpecialistRegister at the time of taking up the post. The postholder is expected to attend Directorate meetings and take part in Audit andClinical Governance. Audit takes place monthly on a rolling half day. Thepost-holder will undergo annual appraisal, as do all medical staff in theDirectorate. The post holder will also be expected to develop the Service inkeeping with National guidance. • Full general ENT surgical training with experience of general Urology with sub-specialty expertise in prostate and bladder, • Understanding of the NHS, Clinical Governance process and resource issues, • Evidence of organisational, management and time management skills, • Experience of supervising junior medical staff, • Experience of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, • Ability to teach clinical / technical / practical skills, • Fellowship in the area of subspeciality interest, • Evidence of management and administration experience and understanding management goals, • Management course and / or certificate, • Qualification in medical education, • Primary medical qualification, • Full GMC registration, • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within six months of the date of the AAC [there is flexibility with the 6-month period with Executive Medical Director approval], • Higher professional degree, MD, PhD or equivalent, • Alignment with the Trust core values and behaviours., • Flexible approach to service delivery and committed approach to development., • Committed to share in professional, managerial and teaching responsibilities necessary to fulfil the obligations of the Directorate, to the Trust and its workforce., • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives and healthcare workers and other agencies, • Evidence of understanding of and adherence to principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the GMC, • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical practice, • Involvement in quality improvement measures, • Ability to undertake multi-disciplinary audit / audit in specialty area, • Experience of clinical research, • Undertaken research with published papers in refereed journals This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
