Tier 3 IT Engineer Location: Redruth, Cornwall Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 Working Arrangement: Primarily office-based, with occasional customer site visits About the Role We are looking for an experienced Tier 3 IT Engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career, combining hands-on technical expertise with technical leadership and project ownership. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working closely with customers and having a genuine influence over the development of an MSP's technical operations. You will become a key technical escalation point within the business, while also taking ownership of complex projects and helping to develop the engineers around you. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of complex and technically demanding projects from initial planning through to successful delivery. Work closely with senior leadership on strategic technical projects and initiatives. Act as the senior technical point of contact for key customers. Lead technical reviews and help shape customer technology roadmaps and future infrastructure strategies. Handle complex technical escalations requiring a high level of expertise and troubleshooting ability. Mentor and develop Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineers, helping them build their technical capabilities. Contribute to the development of technical procedures, processes and systems across the business. Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation to ensure knowledge is effectively shared across the team. Evaluate and introduce new technologies, systems and solutions where they can add value to the business or customers. Work across a varied technology stack and customer base, providing exposure to different environments and technical challenges. Support the wider engineering team when required, including occasional onsite customer support. About You We are looking for someone who has already established themselves at a senior technical level and is now looking for an opportunity to take on greater responsibility and leadership. You will ideally have: Strong experience working within an MSP or similar managed IT environment. Proven Tier 3 / 3rd Line or Senior IT Engineering experience. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex IT environments. Experience leading technical projects from planning through to delivery. The confidence to communicate with customers at a senior technical level. Experience mentoring or supporting junior and mid-level engineers. A proactive approach to improving technical processes and ways of working. Strong documentation and communication skills. A genuine interest in keeping up with emerging technologies and developing your technical skill set. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit technical team. Overview Our client is a specialist fire and flood restoration business helping homeowners and organisations recover following unexpected property damage. They are seeking a highly organised and customer-focused Technical Claims Manager to join their team in Redruth, Cornwall. This is essentially a project management and customer leadership role within a specialist technical environment. You will take ownership of insurance claims from beginning to end, coordinating customers, insurers, loss adjusters, technical teams and field-based restoration personnel to achieve the best possible outcome. You'll typically be responsible for 60–100 live claims at any one time, requiring excellent organisation, sound judgement and the confidence to make decisions across a busy and constantly changing portfolio. Crucially, previous insurance or construction experience is not required. Technical training will be provided, making this a potentially excellent opportunity for experienced ex-military personnel and candidates from operations, logistics, project management and other demanding coordination roles. The Role As Technical Claims Manager, you will own the claim, customer relationship and commercial outcome. You'll take responsibility for new insurance claims from start to finish, guiding customers and professional stakeholders through the restoration process with confidence, professionalism and care. You won't be working alone. Technical Claims Handlers will run projects under your supervision and consultation, while Restoration Technicians undertake the practical restoration work in the field with your guidance. The role therefore requires someone capable of keeping numerous moving parts under control while building relationships, solving problems and making well-judged decisions under pressure. Key Responsibilities • Take ownership of new insurance claims from initial instruction through to completion., • Act as the principal point of contact for customers, including both vulnerable individuals and high-profile clients., • Build effective professional relationships with insurers, loss adjusters, brokers and technical teams., • Quickly assess customer requirements and interpret complex information, including building damage reports and insurance policies., • Work with field-based teams to develop appropriate scopes of work., • Help prevent further property damage while controlling claim costs and delivering excellent customer outcomes., • Adapt plans in response to changing priorities or insurer decisions., • Keep projects progressing effectively and within budget., • Monitor restoration progress and coordinate site visits., • Maintain clear, professional communication between all parties throughout the claim. What We're Looking For The client is more interested in your ability to take ownership, coordinate complex workloads and deliver results than in whether you have previously worked in insurance or fire and flood restoration. No Previous Industry Experience Required You do not need a background in insurance or construction. The client will provide training in the technical aspects of the position, including: • Drying science, • Insurance policy detail, • Building fabric What matters is that you have previously held real accountability for a large number of moving parts simultaneously and are accustomed to being the person responsible for driving progress and chasing others for answers. Ideal Backgrounds Candidates with transferable experience from areas including: Operations, Logistics, Project management, Contract management, Account management, Customer service leadership, Hospitality, Healthcare coordination and the Armed Forces. Candidates who have previously managed a busy caseload, portfolio of accounts, service desk or site diary could also be particularly relevant. Ex-Military Candidates This could be an especially interesting opportunity for experienced service leavers and veterans who are strong at coordination, stakeholder management, prioritisation and decision-making.
