Learning Mentor - SEMH & Vocational Learning Location: Preston, Lancashire Salary: £21,731 - £25,758 + Up to £2,500 Annual Performance Bonus Contract: Full Time | Permanent | Term Time Only Hours: Monday - Friday | 8:30am - 3:30pm Start Date: September 2026 Build Relationships. New Chapter Tuition is proud to be working exclusively with a specialist vocational education provision to recruit a Learning Mentor for a full-time, permanent role starting in September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing provision supporting learners from KS3-KS5 with SEMH, ADHD, emotional and behavioural needs, and those who have experienced trauma. Using practical, hands-on vocational learning, you'll help learners rebuild confidence, re-engage with education and develop the skills they need to succeed in further education, employment and life. The Role As a Learning Mentor, you will: • Build positive, trusting relationships with learners., • Support learners on a 1:1 basis and in small groups of up to 8, delivering engaging vocational learning., • Support learners with SEMH, ADHD, SEND and additional needs., • Use effective de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies., • Create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment., • Promote confidence, resilience and independence., • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to achieve positive learner outcomes.About You This role would particularly suit candidates with experience as a: • Learning Mentor, • Behaviour Mentor, • Teaching Assistant, • Sports Coach, • Youth Worker, • Mechanic, • Engineer, • Cadet Instructor, • Vocational Instructor, • Alternative Provision Practitioner To be successful, you'll have: • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills., • Experience supporting children and young people., • Experience supporting learners with SEMH, ADHD, SEND or challenging behaviour., • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills., • A trauma-informed, nurturing and relationship-led approach., • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people. Experience in mechanics, engineering or vocational learning is desirable but not essential. We are looking for individuals with the right attitude, resilience and commitment to helping young people succeed.
