We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and a strong understanding of food safety and preparation techniques. As a Line Cook, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently, delivering high-quality meals to our guests in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Responsibilities: Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards. Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, marinating, and seasoning. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service. Monitor food stock levels and assist with inventory management as needed. Help train new kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and food safety practices. Participate in daily kitchen operations, including setting up workstations and cleaning up after service. Requirements Proven experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role within a restaurant or culinary setting. Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively. A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new skills within the culinary field. Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required. Location: Midsummer House, Midsummer Common, Cambridge CB4 1HA Salary: Up to £34,000 plus tips (DOE) (up to £9,000 potential tip earnings) Hours: Wednesday – Saturday (Every week) Holiday: 5 weeks holiday (inclusive of 2 weeks over Christmas, 1 week in spring and 2 weeks in summer) Days: This is a permanent job, four days a week, including lunch and dinner service every day we are open. SUMMARY OF POSITION The sommelier must be passionate about food, beverage and hospitality, whose attention to detail is second to none. You will be responsible for supporting the ground floor dining team and head sommelier in the running of the beverages department, providing highly efficient and effective service, educating and recommending guest on wines with trained skills and expertise as well as training members and management on wines. The ideal candidate should have a stable employment history and preferably but not necessarily hold wine/hospitality qualification.
