Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and proactive graduate to join our engineering team within a dynamic manufacturing company. The successful candidate will work on a variety of technical projects, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, production processes, and the development of manufacturing documentation. This role offers broad exposure to a wide range of materials and manufacturing processes, providing hands-on experience in problem-solving, lean manufacturing, and data analysis while collaborating with colleagues across the business to deliver high-quality results. Key Responsibilities • Continuous Improvement: Plan, implement, and manage continuous improvement initiatives from concept through to completion, driving efficiency, productivity, quality, and cost reduction across a wide range of materials and their respective manufacturing processes, including metals, plastics, foams, plywood, and textiles., • Manufacturing Documentation: Create, update, and maintain essential manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, SOPs, visual aids, and training materials., • Lean Manufacturing: Support the Production Manager in implementing 5S and other lean manufacturing initiatives, whilst also contributing to the optimisation of production planning., • Production Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Investigate and resolve production-related technical issues in real time alongside production operatives, while providing hands-on technical support with machine and tool setups, adjustments, and operational guidance to minimise downtime and ensure efficient manufacturing and assembly processes., • Jigs & Fixtures: Collaborate with production operatives to develop concepts for jigs, fixtures, and other manufacturing aids, while taking responsibility for detailed design, implementation, and ensuring they support efficient production., • Data Collection: Assist in collecting, monitoring, analysing, and reporting production data to key personnel to identify trends and support data-driven improvements., • Industry Awareness & Innovation: Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, feeding back insights to relevant personnel and acting on opportunities to implement improvements that deliver business value and competitive advantage. Skills, Knowledge & Experience Essential • Education: A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering or a related field., • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions that improve processes and overcome challenges., • Project Management: Manage projects independently, take initiative, and proactively address potential issues to ensure timely, high-quality results., • Teamwork & Communication: Engage and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation, share ideas clearly, and actively receive and apply feedback to enhance company performance., • CAD Software: Experience with computer aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo or any similar tool., • Microsoft Office: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Desirable • Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement tools., • Programming: Working knowledge of Python or similar programming language to assist with in house software development., • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse production data, identify trends, and make informed, data-driven decisions to improve processes and performance., • Work Experience: Some prior experience in a professional workplace, preferably in manufacturing or engineering, with experience using manufacturing ERP systems.
