The Job Role We are currently recruiting for Engineering Geologists and Geo-environmental Engineers to join our well-established and experienced consultancy teams in Exeter. We are specifically seeking candidates with proven relevant experience in the supervision of ground investigations. This role is an excellent opportunity to work with a wide range of public and private sector clients on key and major projects, giving you the chance to gain broad consultancy experience early in your career. The role includes a mix of site-based supervision of geotechnical investigations, along with some office-based analysis and reporting tasks. You will be responsible for undertaking the following tasks effectively and efficiently: • Conducting pre-commencement Desk Study research and reporting, • Preparing for and supervising Ground Investigations, including logging of soil/rock to current standards, • Liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, • Preparing samples and scheduling laboratory testing, • Producing site logs/data and drafting Factual Reports with increasing interpretive input, including:, • Geo-technical: Foundations (Shallow & Deep), Earthworks & Ground Improvement/Stabilisation, Retaining Structures, Slope Stability, Highway and Drainage Design, • Geo-environmental: Phased Contaminated Land Risk Assessments (Generic & Detailed), Hydro-geological Risk Assessments, Gas Risk, and Waste Management Please note: These accountabilities are not exhaustive and may vary depending on the evolving needs of the company. The post holder will be expected to adhere to all policies and procedures and undertake additional duties as appropriate. Essential Qualifications, Licences & Attributes • BSc or BEng in Geology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field (a Master’s degree or PhD is advantageous), • At least 1–3 years of relevant experience, • A desire to maintain CPD and work towards Chartership (CGeol, CEng, CSci), • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes, • Strong organisational and planning skills, • Commitment to high standards of customer service, • Effective communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships
