Tax Investigations Senior Manager – Exeter \n Exeter, Devon \n Hybrid & Flexible Working \n Competitive Salary + Benefits \n We are recruiting a Tax Investigations Senior Manager on behalf of a highly respected and growing accountancy and business advisory firm in Exeter. \n This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Tax Investigations Manager, Tax Disputes Manager, or Senior Tax Manager with a strong HMRC investigations background to join a specialist tax team. \n The role offers significant exposure to complex HMRC enquiries, COP8 and COP9 investigations, voluntary disclosures, tax disputes, and contentious tax matters, alongside client advisory and business development responsibilities. \n The Role \n As a Tax Investigations Senior Manager, you will take ownership of complex HMRC investigations from initial enquiry through to resolution. \n Your responsibilities will include: \n\n • Managing complex HMRC enquiries, including COP8 and COP9 investigations\n, • Advising individuals and businesses throughout the investigation process\n, • Managing voluntary disclosures and full or aspect enquiries\n, • Preparing detailed responses and technical submissions to HMRC\n, • Acting as the main point of contact with HMRC officers\n, • Representing clients during meetings, negotiations, and correspondence\n, • Providing technical analysis of complex UK tax matters\n, • Identifying tax risks and developing strategies to mitigate exposure\n, • Negotiating practical and commercially focused outcomes with HMRC\n, • Preparing clear technical reports and client advice\n, • Building strong relationships with clients, legal advisers, and professional contacts\n, • Supporting business development through networking and identifying new opportunities\n, • Mentoring and developing junior members of the team\n, • Delivering internal training and sharing knowledge on tax investigations and disputes\n\n About You \n You'll have: \n\n • CTA qualified, with ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualifications also considered\n, • Significant post-qualification experience in UK tax investigations and disputes\n, • Strong experience dealing directly with HMRC\n, • Detailed knowledge of UK tax legislation and HMRC procedures\n, • Experience handling COP8, COP9, voluntary disclosures, and complex enquiries\n, • Excellent technical research, analytical, and problem-solving skills\n, • Strong written and verbal communication abilities\n, • Confidence explaining complex tax matters clearly to clients\n, • Excellent client relationship and negotiation skills\n, • A commercial and proactive approach to business development\n, • Experience coaching and developing junior colleagues\n\n What's on Offer \n\n • Hybrid and flexible working\n, • Competitive salary and benefits package\n, • Specialist Tax Investigations and Disputes role\n, • Exposure to complex HMRC investigations\n, • Significant client and advisory responsibility\n, • Business development and networking opportunities\n, • Leadership and mentoring responsibilities\n, • Ongoing technical and professional development\n, • Clear career progression within a growing tax team\n\n Location \n Exeter, Devon \n Easily commutable from Exmouth, Newton Abbot, Crediton, Tiverton, Honiton, Sidmouth, Teignmouth, Torquay, and surrounding areas. \n Apply \n For a confidential discussion or to apply, please contact Jack Wood: \n \n
