We are seeking an experienced and strategic Business Unit Director - Advisory to join our organisation in Leeds. In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee the strategic direction, operational excellence, and commercial performance of part of our Advisory team. The successful candidate will drive business growth, lead high‑performing teams, and deliver exceptional results whilst maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. • Operate as a member of the Aqua Leadership Team, contributing to strategic and tactical actions to deliver the business plan and ensuring Aqua is a great place to work., • Operate within the Advisory Leadership Team, leading the operational management of the Advisory business unit/service line., • Responsible for the Advisory P&L, corrective actions, and margin enhancement initiatives., • Manage approved revenue and EBITDA (margin) of Advisory commissions as Sponsor/Project Director, working closely with Delivery & Performance to exploit opportunities to outperform., • Work with the service line leadership team to manage workload and staff utilisation through development and maintenance of a resource plan., • Prepare and manage the Advisory budgets and forecasts in the year and rolling year‑on‑year plans., • Ensure quality management, compliance with standards, ethics, corporate governance and policies/procedures., • Develop headcount requirements and support recruitment, retention and employee development., • Act as the nominated person for finance and performance, collaborating with finance and commercial teams to ensure best‑in‑class client outcomes and commercial performance., • Develop and embed performance management and behavioural frameworks within the business unit, ensuring clear and accurate reporting of people and business performance in line with key metrics., • Own and support client engagement and relationships within the agreed delegation from the Service Line Director and Clients and Partnerships team., • Be accountable for the delivery of specific client commissions and projects, acting as project or programme manager., • Support Advisory SME’s to develop new and enhance existing capabilities, moving toward productisation., • Design and implement processes and procedures to manage a team of highly skilled consultants across a national client base, cross‑sector., • Deputise for the Director of Strategic Advisory Services as required., • Contribute to and lead Advisory related commissions, with expected expertise in asset management, investment, regulation and economics., • Develop clear expertise as a sellable consultant, understanding key offerings within the service line and presenting a clear value proposition., • Provide strategic advice as a sellable consultant/S.M.E. in areas such as commercial, change and digitisation, and operate as Project Manager/Project Director on key commissions, building and maintaining senior stakeholder relationships., • Work with the client and partnership team to develop go‑to‑market plans., • Lead and develop proposals, contributing to strategy and direction of the go/no‑gos, and ensuring successful bids and proposals., • Act as a standard owner for proposals that come from the team, managing and monitoring risk and opportunities in conjunction with the project management teams., • Work within existing client frameworks to identify opportunities, develop proposals and bring combined skill and expertise to add value for those clients., • Hold a work‑winning target that contributes to the overall advisory pipeline success., • Act as named framework representative where appropriate., • Develop a clear understanding of other service lines and demonstrate cross‑capability awareness and thinking., • Competitive salary + discretionary bonus., • Company pension., • 25 days annual leave + Bank holidays + option to purchase additional leave., • Salary sacrifice pension scheme., • Company mobile phone and laptop provided., • Training and career progression opportunities., • Professional membership fees paid., • Life assurance scheme 4× annual salary., • Employee assistance programme (with access to GP appointments, physiotherapy appointments and mental health support)., • Medicash cash plan (money back on everyday healthcare costs such as dental, glasses, contact lenses)., • Refer a friend scheme., • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay and leave.
