An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for a Monitoring Officer to join our Alarm Receiving Centre on a permanent basis. NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services. Position Details The Monitoring Officer will be responsible for monitoring the safety of vulnerable workers, responding to fire, intruder and lone worker alarm activations, and reporting incidents of note. Implementing agreed client escalation and business continuity plans and carry out relevant duties within the Alarm Receiving Centre including production of basic incident reports. Further details regarding what this role entails are noted within the Job Description for the post, whilst the Person Specification document confirms the key competencies you are required to demonstrate in your application. Please note an SIA Licence (CCTV) would be advantageous, though should the successful candidate not hold this training will be provided to allow them to undertake this role. Contract Details Weekly Hours: an average of 35 hours + 3.5 hours contractual overtime per week Work Pattern: 4 on, 4 off pattern on a rotating pattern of dayshifts (7am – 7pm) and nightshifts (7pm – 7am) Annual Salary: £24,255.68 - £27,898.51 on an incremental scale Additional Payments: In addition to the annual salary the role attracts an annual payment of £2,425.57 - £2,789.85 for the contractual overtime, and an annual non-standard hours (NSH) allowance of £5,335.26. Please note, the annual salary and additional payments noted will increase by 3.5% from 1 April 2026. Key Pre-Employment Information As part of the pre-employment checks for this post the successful candidate(s) will have to undergo a BS7858 Security Screening check which will involve a 5 or 10-year career history check, a financial probity check and criminal record screening. This will be completed in addition to the Council’s own standard pre-employment checks, which will be detailed to the successful candidate(s) following interviews.
