Job Summary\n We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Hewell, a category B remand prison based in Redditch, Worcestershire. HMP Hewell has a fast‑paced healthcare environment delivering care to males aged 21+, with a range of needs including substance misuse and long‑term conditions. \n Within this role you will join an established multidisciplinary team and undertake segregation rounds as well as clinical sessions. \nHours\n Mondays: 08:30 – 17:00. Part‑time role working 8 paid hours / 2 sessions. Additional hours are available to extend the shift up to 12 hours. \nSalary\n Annual salary up to £125,468 per annum FTE, depending on experience. \nSupport & Development\n\n • Bespoke induction, including the Introducing Health in Justice training course\n, • Competency framework\n, • Regional and national career development opportunities\n, • Bespoke Learning Management System to address learning needs\n, • Support from the wider team\n\nMain Duties\n\n, • Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, further developing knowledge in areas not normally experienced in general practice or A&E.\n, • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, make timely decisions regarding future management.\n, • Act as a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team and to patients.\n, • Participate in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.\n\nJob Responsibilities\n\n, • Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate inline with guidelines and pathways.\n, • Prescribe for patients, regularly review medications and monitor repeat prescriptions.\n, • Provide medical leadership and expert advice to the wider healthcare team;\n, • Deliver effective patient care, develop high levels of communication with patients, identify and utilise evidence‑based best practice through benchmarking and clinical guidelines.\n, • Undertake appropriate clinical audit to improve clinical outcomes.\n, • Inspire and develop positive collaborative working relationships across the multidisciplinary team; work with the wider team to ensure effective clinical governance is incorporated into day‑to‑day practice.\n, • Promote multidisciplinary discussions around complex case management, ensuring systems and processes are in place for managing results, letters and tasks; undertake clinical risk assessments and implement management strategies for risks.\n, • Share and disseminate acquired knowledge with team members through development sessions and clinical governance meetings or clinical case reviews.\n\nQualifications & Requirements\n\n, • MBChB or MBBS.\n, • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List.\n, • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal.\n, • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice.\n, • Evidence of continuing professional development.\n, • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse.\n, • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications.\n, • Legal right to work in the UK.
