Civil Litigation Locum Sheffield Contract Type: Locum to start 20th April 2026 until 30th June 2026 Hybrid working available About the Role We are seeking a qualified and motivated Civil Litigation Lawyer to join a well-established in-house legal team within a leading Local Authority. This is an excellent opportunity to undertake a varied and stimulating caseload while supporting key client departments, including Housing, in delivering their objectives. The role involves handling a broad range of civil litigation matters, ensuring claims are managed efficiently and fairly, while balancing the needs of the Council and its service users. Key Responsibilities • Managing a diverse caseload of civil litigation matters from instruction through to conclusion, • Advising client departments on legal risks, strategy, and dispute resolution, • Conducting advocacy in court and, where appropriate, tribunal settings, • Handling matters including:, • Disrepair claims and associated defences, • Applications for court injunctions, including access to property, • Debt recovery and enforcement proceedings, • General civil litigation matters affecting the Authority, • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and legal correspondence, • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with full practising rights, • Experience in civil litigation, • Advocacy experience in court (tribunal advocacy desirable), • Enthusiastic, flexible, and a strong team player, • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, • Hardworking, with strong organisational and case management skills
