Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist (CAMHS) Bournemouth, Dorset Inpatient CAMHS – Brand New High Intensity Environment (PICU) Substantive | Full-Time | Flexible Working Supported Are you a CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist looking to be part of something new and impactful? Dorset HealthCare is expanding its inpatient CAMHS provision with a brand-new, purpose-built 8-bed High Intensity Environment (HIE/PICU) in Bournemouth. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop a growing acute CAMHS service within an outstanding Trust. About the Role You will join a supportive inpatient CAMHS team at Pebble Lodge (General Adolescent Unit), working alongside: • An existing Inpatient CAMHS Consultant, • A Specialist Doctor, • A Specialty Doctor You’ll provide expert assessment and treatment planning for young people with complex mental health presentations, working closely with families, community CAMHS teams, and multidisciplinary colleagues across Dorset. Key Responsibilities • Comprehensive psychiatric assessment and treatment planning, • Direct clinical work including face-to-face reviews, • Working collaboratively with families and community teams, • CPA meetings and discharge planning, • Tribunal work and clinical report writing, • Daily MDT meetings with ward staff, • Supporting trainee development (RCPsych accredited training unit) You will be expected to: • Maintain Section 12(2) approval, • Be an Approved Clinician, • Contribute to service development and leadership Essential • MBBS (or equivalent) with Licence to Practise, • MRCPsych (or recognised equivalent), • CCT in Psychiatry (or within 6 months) or entry on Specialist Register, • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status (or ability to obtain), • Strong MDT working and excellent communication skills, • Experience managing complex CAMHS presentations, • Ability to meet duties under the MHA and MCA Desirable • Teaching experience, • Broader sub-specialty CAMHS experience, • Additional qualifications in education, research, or leadership What’s on Offer Enhanced Recruitment & Retention Package • £20,000 (paid in two instalments: £10,000 on appointment + £10,000 after 12 months), • Up to £10,000 relocation package (if relocating to Dorset) Professional Development • 10 days study leave per year, • Up to £1,000 annual study leave budget, • Strong support for leadership and management development Work-Life Balance & Benefits • Commitment to flexible working, • NHS pension, • Career development opportunities, • Work within a CQC-rated ‘Outstanding’ Trust
