Job Title:\n\nExtrusion Machine Setter / Operator\n\nReporting To:\n\nShift Leader\n\nKey Interfaces:\n\nQuality Control, Packers, Maintenance, Warehouse, Production Planning\n\nPurpose of the Role\n\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating, monitoring, and maintaining uPVC manufacturing machinery to produce high-quality sections in line with production schedules and quality standards.\n\nThis role requires ownership of machine performance, product quality, and safe working practices, while contributing to operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nResponsibilities may evolve in line with business and operational requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Manufacture uPVC sections in line with production plans, specifications, and health & safety standards\n\n * Take ownership of machine performance, output quality, and downtime reduction\n\n * Support continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and team development\n\nSpecific Duties & Responsibilities\n\nMachine Setting, Operation & Production Control\n\n * Prepare tooling, materials, and equipment in line with production requirements\n\n * Set up, change over, and optimise machinery using approved settings and technical documentation\n\n * Achieve production targets while minimising waste and downtime\n\n * Communicate any risks to production schedules\n\nQuality Control & Compliance\n\n * Carry out in-process dimensional and visual checks\n\n * Complete and record quality checks at defined intervals\n\n * Perform ongoing verification of product quality\n\n * Conduct end-of-line checks to ensure products meet specifications\n\n * Identify and address quality issues or trends\n\n * Escalate concerns where necessary\n\n * Maintain accurate quality documentation\n\nTroubleshooting, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement\n\n * Diagnose and resolve machine and process issues\n\n * Perform routine adjustments and basic preventative maintenance\n\n * Support maintenance activities and breakdown resolution\n\n * Identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction\n\n * Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices\n\n * Escalate complex or safety-critical faults appropriately\n\nTraining, Coaching & Team Support\n\n * Provide on-the-job training and guidance to colleagues\n\n * Support new starters with processes and safe working practices\n\n * Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning\n\n * Act as a role model for safety, quality, and productivity\n\n * Provide feedback on performance and training needs\n\nQualifications (Desirable)\n\n * Forklift Truck Licence\n\n * Manufacturing or engineering qualification\n\nSkills, Knowledge & Attributes\n\n * Experience as a Machine Setter/Operator in a manufacturing environment (uPVC extrusion preferred)\n\n * Reliable, proactive, and flexible with a strong sense of accountability
