The role A rare opportunity to join our Commercial Legal team in a strategic leadership role, are you ready to shape the future of connectivity in the UK? Cellnex UK is looking for an exceptional Head of Commercial Legal to lead our team of commercial lawyers and play a pivotal role in supporting our corporate and commercial operations. Reporting to the Director of Legal and sitting on the UK Leadership Team, you’ll guide contract negotiations, manage legal risk, and oversee in-life legal matters, including dispute resolution, along with developing our commercial legal operations to enable our sales teams with new products and solutions and to harness new technologies in providing legal advice. At Cellnex, you’ll be at the heart of the UK’s digital transformation—supporting Smart Cities, IoT, digital broadcasting, and critical national infrastructure like transport and emergency services. Key Responsibilities In this role you will have the opportunity to be part of the Leadership Team, building relationships across the business and developing the commercial legal team as trusted business partners. You will have the ability to define and implement improvements in our contracting and enabling activities with the business, being involved in Corporate M&A related activities, and to operate at a senior level in managing complex commercial disputes to successful outcomes. • Leading, managing and coaching a team of 3-5 commercial lawyers to deliver high quality commercially-focused legal advice, meeting business needs within tight timelines, appropriately considering and managing risk., • Leading the provision of sales-oriented commercial and procurement legal support, supporting risk-based decisions, enabling a fast turnaround and facilitating an “easy-to-do business with” approach., • Driving the implementation of AI within the legal team and across the UK business., • Shaping and leading the UK business approach to standard contracting, including creating and maintaining playbook positions and providing/enabling team to provide training to the business on contractual issues., • Overseeing the creating and maintenance of a bank of precedent documents tailored to the different business areas and solutions., • Leading the drafting, negotiating, and advising upon complex strategic and operational commercial contracts, projects and transactions from tender stage to in-life operation. Experience • UK qualified Solicitor or Barrister with current practising certificate., • Experience managing a team of professionals, including experienced lawyers, coaching and developing team members to deliver in fast-paced environments., • Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience working at a senior level including in-house experience., • Significant experience of negotiating and advising upon complex B2B contracts., • Previous telecoms/ infrastructure or technology experience preferred, or demonstrable experience of learning new sectors and adapting commercial contracting approach to support the business., • Experience of standard form construction contracts (NEC3, NEC4, JCT) sufficient to advise both sales and procurement teams in a timely and accessible manner., • Demonstrable experience of change management, effectively designing and implementing standard pre- and post- contracting processes and procedures including contracting risk management approach within a commercial legal team and across the business.
