Facilities Operations Assistant – Birmingham (Virgin Media Contract) Employer: ISS Location:Birmingham Hours: Monday–Friday, 7am–5pm (Site‑Based) ISS is looking for a proactive and multi‑skilled Facilities Operations Assistant to support the day‑to‑day running of our Virgin Media site in Birmingham. This hands‑on role is central to maintaining a safe, well‑presented and smoothly operated workplace, providing essential support across events, front‑of‑house, maintenance and compliance activities. You’ll be a visible, customer‑focused presence on site, ensuring colleagues and visitors receive an exceptional experience. Key Responsibilities • Support event and room setups, AV coordination and furniture moves, • Liaise with event organisers, vendors and internal stakeholders, • Provide onsite support during events and conduct post‑event reinstatement, • Deliver professional front‑of‑house assistance and act as a first point of contact, • Maintain high presentation standards across reception and workplace areas, • Carry out minor repairs including basic carpentry, joinery and low‑level electrical tasks, • Conduct routine building inspections and report defects, • Assist contractors during planned works and support general maintenance tasks, • Escalate technical issues to qualified personnel when required, • Support cleaning teams during peak periods or events, • Complete risk assessments for events and maintenance activities, • Follow safe working practices including ladder use and manual handling, • Support emergency response procedures, fire warden duties and postal operations What We’re Looking For We’re seeking a hands‑on, customer‑focused individual with strong communication skills and experience in facilities, hospitality or a corporate environment. You’ll be confident working independently and as part of a team, physically capable of manual handling tasks, and comfortable supporting a wide range of operational duties. An SIA licence, ladder safety, manual handling and low‑level electrical safety training are essential, with first aid and fire marshal training preferred. A friendly, proactive and professional approach is key to success in this role.
