Field Sales Representative – FMCG (B2B Catering)\n\nLocation: Field-based\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe’re looking for a motivated, street-smart Field Sales Representative to help grow our client's presence across the catering and hospitality sector.\n\nThis role is focused on developing new business and managing relationships within restaurants, cafés, schools, hospitals, and catering operations. You’ll be working with fast-moving, perishable goods where quality, pricing, and delivery reliability are critical.\n\nThis is a hands-on, field-based role — ideal for someone confident walking into kitchens, building relationships with chefs, and winning business in a competitive environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProspect and win new business through cold calling and in-person visits to local businesses (restaurants, cafés, caterers, schools, and care settings)\nConfidently walk into kitchens and engage chefs and decision-makers\nPitch core value propositions including: \n\nHigh-quality products\nCompetitive pricing\nReliable delivery service\n\nGrow existing accounts through upselling and cross-selling\nOnboard new accounts and ensure a smooth customer experience from day oneBuild and manage a strong pipeline of prospective customers\nMaintain strong customer relationships to ensure retention and prevent competitor drift\nNegotiate pricing and terms while protecting margins\nWork closely with internal teams to ensure consistent service delivery\nSupport or contribute to tender submissions (B2B and public sector, including NHS where applicable)\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\nProven experience in field sales, ideally within:\n\nFoodservice\nHospitality\nFMCG or wholesale distribution\n\nStrong understanding of fast-moving, perishable goods\nComfortable working in kitchen environments and speaking directly with clients\nResilient and persistent — able to handle rejection and stay motivated\nStrong communication and relationship-building skills\nCommercial awareness with the ability to negotiate effectively\nHighly organised with the ability to manage your own territory and pipeline\nExperience with tenders (especially NHS or public sector) is advantageous but not essential\n\nWhat Success Looks Like\n\nConsistently winning new business\nGrowing revenue within existing accounts\nBuilding long-term, loyal customer relationships\nBecoming a trusted supplier rather than just another vendor\n\nKey Traits\n\nSelf-starter with a proactive mindset\nEnergetic and confident in face-to-face interactions\nPersistent and resilient\nCommercially driven\nCustomer-focused\nIf you're a motivated and ambitious sales person who can hit the ground running with a fantastic family run business, please reach out to Jade at Select Recruitment for more information
