Located on The RiverFront in Omaha, our purpose-built, 82,000-square-foot facility is home to a growing team of talented individuals who, together with collaborators and visitors, bring Kiewit Luminarium to life. Position Summary Reporting to the Senior Director of Education and Visitor Services, the Museum Experience Manager oversees daily floor operations and the recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance of Kiewit Luminariums part-time experience facilitators (Luminators), as well as full-time Educational Associates (EAs) and Visitor Services Associates (VSAs). This role ensures an exceptional guest experience, supports continuous improvement in floor programming and operations, and fosters a positive, growth-oriented environment for the front-line team. The Museum Experience Manager also works collaboratively across departments to coordinate floor coverage and strengthen communication, and provides on-floor supervisory support as needed to ensure smooth daily operations. Essential Functions • Directly supervises full-time EAs and VSAs, as well as part-time Education and Visitor Services Luminators, which includes recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and coaching staff., • Coordinates scheduling and communication with part-time Luminators for floor operations, special events, and outreach programs, collaborating with other Luminarium departments as needed to ensure appropriate coverage and alignment with organizational priorities., • Oversees ongoing training and professional development for part-time Luminators in collaboration with the Education Manager, EAs, and VSAs., • Monitors and reports on staff performance, guest satisfaction, and operational metrics to inform continuous improvement., • Fosters a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture for front-line staff through communication, recognition, and engagement initiatives., • Identifies and implements process improvements across Visitor Services operations, including the POS system and back-end guest support functions, to enhance operational efficiency and the overall visitor experience., • Ensures staff compliance with safety protocols, emergency procedures, and accessibility standards to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for guests and staff., • Provides direct museum floor supervision when other designated staff are unavailable due to illness, vacation, or other scheduling needs., • Supports the Education Manager and EAs in the exploration and development of partnerships with nonprofits, higher education institutions, government agencies, and STEM-related companies for collaborative educational programming., • Provides input and support to the Education Manager in the development of educational activities for the museum floor and the Maker Space., • Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience • Bachelors degree in education, museum studies, hospitality management, business administration, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered., • Minimum of 35 years of experience in visitor services, museum education, informal learning environments, or comparable public-facing operations., • At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience, preferably in a museum, cultural, educational, or customer service-oriented setting., • Demonstrated experience in staff training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management within dynamic, customer-facing environments., • First Aid/CPR certification required within six (6) months of employment and maintained thereafter; prior certification preferred but not required at hire. Necessary Skills & Characteristics • Deep enthusiasm for creating an exceptional guest experience and cultivating a welcoming environment that inspires curiosity in visitors of all ages and backgrounds., • Highly organized and attentive to detail., • Excellent people management, communication, and interpersonal skills., • Demonstrated ability to foster positive team dynamics and motivate others toward shared goals., • Able to prioritize and manage multiple duties and tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment., • Skilled at troubleshooting, problem-solving, and adapting to change and complex situations., • Cross-cultural fluency and ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people., • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work independently while managing responsibilities effectively with minimal supervision., • Familiarity with museum-specific software, ticketing systems, or point-of-sale tools is a plus., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Suite., • English proficiency is required; bilingual skills are an asset (especially Spanish). Schedule This is a full-time, salaried exempt position. The schedule generally follows a Monday through Friday format; however, the schedule will periodically flex to include weekend, evening, and holiday hours to support special museum programming and events, as well as provide direct museum floor supervision when other designated staff are unavailable due to illness, vacation, or other scheduling needs.
