Job Description Job Description As a member of the advanced technical staff, the Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and validation of industrial electronic systems from concept through production. This role focuses on robust hardware design for harsh environments, including mixed-signal circuit design, power architecture, industrial communications, and compliance with safety and EMC standards. The engineer will own designs end-to-end, drive technical decisions, and ensure products meet performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities · Design and develop mixed-signal electronic systems including analog, digital, and power circuits for industrial applications. · Design robust power architectures (DC input, AC/DC modules, protection, sequencing, inrush, reverse polarity, surge) · Develop industrial interfaces such as RS-485, 4–20 mA, Ethernet, digital I/O and wireless interfaces such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi with appropriate protection and isolation · Ensure designs meet EMC/EMI requirements (ESD, EFT, surge, radiated/conducted emissions and immunity. · Drive product certification efforts (UL, IEC, CE, FCC), including design for compliance and test support · Perform worst-case analysis, tolerance analysis, and failure mode analysis (FMEA) · Perform PCB layout in Altium Designer, including component placement, stack-up definition, and routing for mixed-signal, power, and high-reliability designs · Apply best practices for layout related to EMC/EMI, grounding, shielding, isolation, and high-current paths · Own layout decisions to ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, and compliance requirements, translate schematic intent into robust physical layout · Lead schematic design, component selection, and guide PCB layout with strong focus on EMC and reliability · Debug complex hardware issues in lab and field environments, including system-level failure · Support product bring-up, validation, and production release · Work cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams · Support manufacturing and field issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions · Interface with suppliers, test labs, and certification bodies Qualifications · Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent (Master’s preferred) · 8+ years of experience in electronic product development (industrial or similar environments preferred). · Strong experience in analog, digital, and power circuit design · Experience designing for EMC/EMI compliance and passing regulatory testing · Experience with industrial interfaces (RS-485, 4–20 mA, Ethernet, isolated I/O preferred) · Experience with product certification (UL, CE, FCC, IEC standards) · Strong hands-on debugging and troubleshooting skills at board and system level · Experience taking products from concept through production Required · Strong PCB layout experience using Altium Designer · Experience designing multi-layer boards (4–8+ layers) with mixed-signal and power considerations · Deep understanding of layout impact on EMC, signal integrity, and power integrity Company DescriptionAbout H2scan Corporation H2scan was founded in 2002, and is headquartered in Valencia, California.
