We are seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector – Medium Voltage for a full-time position located in Austin, Texas. Key Responsibilities • Inspect medium-voltage electrical systems (typically 600V up to 35kV), including switchgear, transformers, feeders, duct banks, grounding systems, and protective devices., • Ensure installations comply with contract specifications, National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE standards, and airport authority requirements., • Inspect medium-voltage power distribution systems serving terminals, airfield lighting vaults, central utility plants, and support facilities., • Witness and document acceptance and commissioning tests, including insulation resistance (megger), hipot testing, relay testing, transformer testing, and grounding system verification., • Verify proper installation of duct banks, manholes, vaults, concrete encasement, and warning systems in accordance with AUS and City of Austin standards., • Review and validate energization plans, outage requests, lockout/tagout procedures, and switching sequences in coordination with AUS Operations and Facilities., • Confirm proper coordination of protective devices, arc-flash labeling, grounding and bonding systems, and clearances., • Monitor work performed in active airport environments, ensuring compliance with AOA safety, FOD control, and operational constraints., • Identify non-conforming work, issue deficiency documentation, and verify corrective actions through reinspection and final acceptance.Additional Responsibilities, • Conduct field inspections to verify conformance with approved contract documents and applicable codes, • Review contractor work for compliance with specifications, manufacturer instructions, and regulatory standards, • Coordinate daily activities with third-party inspectors and project stakeholders, including ABIA Operations, Environmental teams, City inspectors, and AUS personnel, • Document deficiencies and communicate findings to the Contractor, Construction Manager and CDS inspectors in a timely manner, • Support Construction Managers in verifying installed quantities for Pay Applications, • Maintain accurate daily inspection reports detailing work reviewed and observations made, • Participate in change management processes and assist in schedule evaluations, • Navigate and utilize project documentation including design drawings, specifications, Design Standards Manual, and contract terms, • Occasional night-time work may be required based on project demandsMinimum Qualifications, • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry, • Medium Voltage, Underground (UG) and Vertical Construction, • Demonstrated aviation-related construction experience, including work on taxiways, runways, terminals, and underground utilities, • Ability to pass a TSA criminal history background check, • In-depth knowledge of environmental codes and regulatory requirements, • Familiarity with discipline-specific codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IMC, IPC, SMACNA, IBC, IEEE), • Ability to interpret and coordinate with third-party inspection reports, • Strong understanding of contract documents, technical specifications, and design standards, • Valid Driver's License, • Experience working in secured, safety-sensitive environments, preferably active airports or similar critical infrastructure., • Strong working knowledge of airfield safety protocols, including FOD control and work near active runways/taxiways., • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security badging and AOA access., • Proficiency with electronic inspection and reporting systems (Procore, e-Builder, Unifier, or similar).Technical Proficiency, • Bluebeam, • Microsoft Office Suite, • Procore, • SharePoint, • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving machinery & mechanical parts, uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to loud noise, and outside weather conditions.Physical Requirements:, • The physical requirements must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Intermittent unassisted sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stooping, crawling, pushing and lifting is required. Must be able to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time for at least eight hours per day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, ability to walk on uneven ground while physically maneuvering construction sites, ability to work in extreme temperatures or humidity, and potentially work at heights.Other Requirements:, • Possession of a valid state of residence driver's license with a clean driving record., • Daily travel to and from construction sites, generally within 100 miles from the home office is expected. Short term, out of town, assignments may be required.
