Job Description Conformal Coating Technician 1st shift 7a - 3:30p $20 - $24 Job Description The Conformal Coating Technician prepares, masks, coats, inspects, and reworks printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) to meet rigorous customer, industry, and internal quality standards. You will apply conformal coatings using both manual and automated equipment, verify coverage and thickness, and ensure high-quality workmanship for high-reliability electronic products used in aerospace, defense, medical, industrial, telecommunications, and other advanced technology applications. Responsibilities • Prepare printed circuit board assemblies for conformal coating, including cleaning and surface preparation., • Perform masking operations to protect components and areas that must not receive conformal coating., • Apply acrylic, silicone, urethane, and other conformal coating materials using manual spray systems and automated coating equipment., • Set up, operate, and monitor automated coating equipment to ensure consistent and repeatable coating results., • Inspect coated assemblies under UV light and other inspection tools to verify proper coverage, thickness, and workmanship., • Identify coating defects such as voids, bubbles, overspray, or insufficient coverage, and determine appropriate corrective actions., • Perform touch-up and rework of coated assemblies, including controlled removal and reapplication of conformal coating where required., • Follow IPC standards, customer specifications, and detailed work instructions to ensure compliance with high-reliability requirements., • Read and interpret work instructions, engineering documentation, and manufacturing travelers to execute tasks accurately., • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and quality records in accordance with quality control procedures., • Adhere to safety guidelines, ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) handling procedures, and cleanliness requirements at all times., • Use microscopes, UV inspection lights, and precision tools to perform detailed inspection and rework tasks., • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process issues and contributing to root cause analysis and corrective actions., • Meet established productivity, schedule, and quality objectives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment., • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve coating-related issues and improve processes. Essential Skills • High school diploma or GED., • Experience in electronics manufacturing., • Understanding of conformal coating processes and their application to PCB assemblies., • Ability to read and follow work instructions, engineering documentation, and manufacturing travelers., • Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills for detailed coating, masking, and rework tasks., • High level of attention to detail to identify defects and ensure consistent coating quality., • Basic computer skills for accessing documentation and recording production and quality data., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing production environment., • Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) handling procedures., • Ability to perform close visual inspection using microscopes and UV inspection lights., • Capability to perform repetitive hand movements and handle materials up to approximately 25–35 lbs. Additional Skills & Qualifications • 1–3 years of conformal coating or PCB manufacturing experience., • IPC-A-610 certification or demonstrated familiarity with IPC-A-610 inspection standards., • Knowledge of J-STD-001 requirements., • Experience operating automated conformal coating equipment., • Experience in aerospace, defense, or medical electronics manufacturing environments., • Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO-based quality management systems., • Hands-on experience with PCB assembly processes, including soldering, PCB rework, and surface mount technology., • Experience performing UV inspection and defect identification on coated assemblies., • Skill in masking techniques for complex PCB layouts and component configurations., • Experience in rework and touch-up of coated assemblies without damaging components or circuitry., • Experience in quality control, inspection, and documentation within electronics manufacturing., • Experience using microscopes and other precision inspection equipment., • Exposure to root cause analysis tools or software to support continuous improvement activities. Work Environment This role is based on a manufacturing production floor environment dedicated to electronics assembly and conformal coating. You will work around conformal coating materials and cleaning solvents, following strict safety and handling procedures. Personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, and smocks, is required to maintain safety and cleanliness. Workstations are ESD-controlled to protect sensitive electronic components. The position involves a mix of standing and seated work throughout the shift, with frequent use of microscopes, UV inspection lights, and other precision equipment for detailed inspection and rework. The work requires close visual inspection, repetitive hand movements, and occasional lifting of materials up to approximately 25–35 pounds. The facility operates under fast-paced production schedules with strict quality expectations, and the dress code aligns with standard electronics manufacturing practices, including ESD-safe attire and appropriate PPE. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Garland, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
