Job DescriptionDescription: POSITION: COOK FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT JOB SUMMARY: We are looking for a skilled and experienced Cook to join our team at Bay 9 Holdings LLC dba Edgemere located in Dallas, Texas. The Cook is responsible for the preparation of all food items served to residents and guests. The Cook prepares food items following approved recipes ensuring the quality, temperature and appearance of food meets culinary standards. Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, hourly position with a salary of $18.00+ per hour. In addition, Bay 9 Holdings LLC dba Edgemere offers competitive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, generous PTO and holiday vacation time, and 401K ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions: • Prepare all food items per menu requirements following designated recipes., • Prepare plates and garnish food items to be served to residents and guests., • Prepare food production to coordinate with meal service hours so that quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved., • Ensure food safety meets State and local standards by monitoring food temperatures and using proper food storage techniques., • Maintain work area in a safe and sanitary condition may include cleaning cooking equipment, and other areas of the kitchen as assigned., • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures., • Encourage cooperative and consistent levels of communication with kitchen staff, front-end staff, and management., • Must understand instructions, read written company memorandums, and communicate with little or no additional direction., • No educational requirement. Must have ability to perform basic arithmetic, understand measurements, and follow written and oral instructions., • One year of experience as a prep cook or similar position, • Food Handler certification obtained within 60 days of hire as required by state guidelines if state certification program exists. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: • Must be able to follow written recipes and instructions., • Must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic and understand measurements and follow written and oral instructions., • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors, and team members. ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing functions. The position also often requires reaching, lifting, and carrying 50 pounds unassisted, balancing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping, repetitive motion, smelling, tasting, and feeling activities. Most of these functions require medium physical exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and /or up to 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to perform activities with close visual acuity, such as; operation of machines and using measurement devices. The functions of this position are conducted in a hot or cold environment with extreme heat of temperatures typically above 100 degrees for periods of more than 1 hour at a time and may routinely be exposed to noise, mechanical equipment, heat, cleaning chemicals, odors, communicable diseases, and blood borne pathogens. INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with team members and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities daily while being responsive to needs as they arise. OSHA Category Classification: Category III: Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids.
