Job Description Location: San Diego, California. Candidate must currently reside in the San Diego County region or must be willing to relocate within sixty (60) days of hire. Hybrid work model: 60% on-site as needed, 40% remote. General Summary: The Project Coordinator will be part of an established team providing comprehensive project coordination of gas and electric utility projects. The role requires experience with supporting small through large-scale projects from inception through completion. The incumbent in this position will manage and coordinate designs that drive transmission and distribution line capital project and program initiatives. The position involves office and field deliverable activities, including on-site meetings at high-voltage electrical substations, transmission lines, test facilities, and corporate campuses. Commitment to safety is paramount. Supervision Level: Reports to Manager, Transmission and Distribution Program Delivery. Responsibilities: • Manages the design phase of many small or several larger projects of various complexity (size, scope, budget, and impact)., • Assists project teams in siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and closeout., • Collaborates in project scoping, timelines/schedule, cost estimates/budgets, licensing/permitting, environmental analysis and permitting, community outreach, engineering and design, and construction management., • Facilitates cross-functional cooperation between dependent design tasks and projects, identifies risks/issues, and develops mitigation solutions., • Communicates with program stakeholders on status, risks, issues, funding, and budgets., • Reviews design plans and sketches and provides relevant markups or approval if required., • Performs extensive analysis of project data and prepares project progress reports., • Supports the creation of detailed project process workflows., • Monitors job progress and provides administrative support for project execution., • Ensures the team meets project milestones and completes projects within the established timeline., • May require ensuring the team meets additional milestones, such as cost management and cost control, including financial modeling and utilization of costing tools., • Maintains consistent communication with teams to gather deliverable status, action items, and risks., • Coordinates and attends meetings, creates and distributes minutes., • Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience: • Project Coordinator I: 0 – 2 years of project coordination experience., • Project Coordinator II: A minimum of 2 years of project coordination experience. A combination of experience, education, and/or training which demonstrates the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: • Experience working in a regulated utility/energy, DOE, DOD, or equivalent environment., • Exposure to electric transmission and distribution or civil construction projects., • Knowledge of NERC and FERC standards, including G.O.95, regional requirements, policies, and procedures., • Understanding of principles and practices of electrical design and planning specific projects., • A strong business aptitude, with knowledge of research methods, including data collection, analysis, and critical thinking., • Knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost management, budget forecasting, and risk qualification, quantification, and mitigation., • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated testing expected before engagement., • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, problem-solving, planning, and follow-up skills., • Work well under pressure., • Influence others and convey complex project and program deliverables concisely., • Concept Development, Conceptual Design. Design, Design Documentation, Design Management, Experience Design., • Product Requirements, Project Scoping., • Exposure to PLS-CADD Software is preferred., • Experienced in scheduling with Primavera P6, MS Project, and/or equivalent tool(s)., • Bachelor’s degree in project management, computer engineering, electrical engineering, business management, or equivalent field; experience equivalent with client approval. Physical demands are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. While delivering projects, the incumbent will work in and around high voltage, energized electric equipment. • Sit or stand at a desk and use a computer workstation for up to 6 hours per day., • Reach and use hands and fingers to feel objects or controls., • Climb stairs and walk on uneven or unpaved surfaces., • Traverse inclined or rough terrain. Salary: The salary range for this role is $60,000 – $80,000. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in San Diego, CA. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
