Job SummaryWe’re looking for a hardworking Utility Locating Specialist to join our team! Performs on-site inspections, installations, and maintenance. Troubleshoots issues and ensures compliance with safety standards. As a Utility Locating Specialist, you'll be on the front lines of identifying and marking underground utilities before excavation and construction projects begin . You may be also responsible for documenting the study results using high-precision GPS. Your work is critical to protecting infrastructure, keeping crews safe, and ensuring project success. The ideal person for this job is a reliable team player and a problem solver who has some prior Utility locating experience. Your daily responsibilities will include: • Locating underground utilities using electromagnetic (EM) locators and ground penetrating radar (GPR), • Interpreting utility records, 811 tickets, and construction plans, • Accurately marking utilities in the field with paint and flags, • Using GPS to document results, • Documenting and reporting findings clearly and thoroughly, • Performing site assessments to identify risks or conflicts, • Communicating with clients, contractors, and project managers, • Maintaining all tools, equipment, and company vehicle, • Following all safety procedures and site protocolsQualifications, • High school diploma/GED or equivalent (trade or tech school a plus), • At least 2 years of in utility locating (811, private locating, or related work), • Familiarity with underground utility systems and construction methods, • Ability to read and interpret utility maps, as-builts, and site drawings, • Strong communication and customer service skills, • Physically able to work outdoors in all conditions and lift up to 50 lbs, • Willing to travel daily to job sites; occasional overnight work may be required, • Valid driver's license with clean record, • Able to pas background checks and drug test for secure facility access, • Willing to obtain industry certification(e.g., OSHA 10/40, Substation Entry, etc.), • CDL is a plus, • Spanish/English bilingual is a plusWhat Will Set You Apart, • A proactive, detail-oriented work style and a strong sense of ownership, • Solid problem-solving skills and situational awareness in the field, • Experience using high-end locating tools (multi-frequency locators, GPR, GPS mapping systems), • Interest in growing your career and learning additional technical services, • Commercial and residential development, • Roadway and infrastructure improvements, • Public utility upgrades and relocations, • Environmental site assessments, • Construction support for engineering and survey firms, • Geological and archeological investigations, • Non-destructive testing and evaluation of structures, • Multi-frequency electromagnetic locators, • Ground penetrating radar (GPR) units, • High-accuracy GPS and mapping systems, • Cloud-based reporting and data collection platformsFully equipped company vehicle, laptop, cellphone, and field tools.
