Job Description Company: Trileaf Corporation is a nationwide environmental, architecture, and engineering consulting firm that assists clients with environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance, and engineering & architectural design. Trileaf serves the wireless communications, real estate, and financial industries from its headquarters in St. Louis, MO and many branch offices throughout the U.S. Location: ORLANDO, FLORIDA (IN-OFFICE) Position Summary: The Project Scientist (Temp-to-Hire) conducts field-based environmental due diligence and/or regulatory across multiple market sectors. This role collects and analyzes site data, performs field sampling, and drafts technical reports under the guidance of senior staff. Requires 0-1 years of experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Travel to project locations to take detailed notes and photographs of sites (typically 3–4 days per week), • Conduct interviews with site contacts, regulators, and other stakeholders in person, by phone, and by email, • Order and analyze government database records related to environmental conditions, • Perform regulatory agency file reviews, • Review local, state and federal databases, • Review of subcontractor reports for accuracy of scope of work for submission to regulatory agencies, • Draft standardized reports synthesizing findings from field work, interviews, and historical/regulatory research, • Perform quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) on deliverables to the satisfaction of management and clients, • Complete requested revisions and submit final reports within pre-established timelines, • Compare analytical contaminant data to applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards, • Maintain accurate field notes, documentation, and project files in accordance with company standards, • Comply with all site-specific and company health and safety protocols Required Skills & Abilities: • Strong attention to detail and commitment to work-product quality, • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision, • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, • Good computer skills, including proficiency with standard office and reporting software, • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines Preferred Skills & Abilities • State specific certifications, • Field sampling of potentially contaminated subsurface media (soil, groundwater, soil vapor) and/or indoor air Education and Experience: • Bachelor's degree or higher in Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resources and Conservation, Geography, or a related field Licenses and Certifications: • Valid driver's license required, • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred (or willingness to obtain) Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on uneven outdoor terrain, construction sites, and industrial/commercial properties, • Frequently required to sit for extended periods while driving, drafting reports, or reviewing records, • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally (e.g., sampling equipment, coolers, field gear), • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate field equipment, sampling tools, cameras, and computers, • Sufficient visual acuity to read maps, historical records, small print, and computer screens, and to identify site conditions and hazards, • Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions and safety warnings in field environments, • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, safety glasses, hard hats, and steel-toed boots, as required by site conditions, • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and uneven or hazardous terrain Work Environment and Travel: • This is a remote/in-office, field-based position; work is performed at client sites, in vehicles while traveling, and from a home office for report writing and administrative tasks, • Regular travel to project sites is required, typically up to 4 days per week, • Occasional overnight or multi-day travel, generally not exceeding 3 consecutive days, • Work may occasionally be performed at active construction sites, industrial facilities, or properties with environmental contamination, • Work may be performed in remote locations Potential Hazards: • May involve entering older or previously occupied buildings or sites with asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint, mold, poor indoor air quality, or hazardous/petroleum materials, • Appropriate PPE, air monitoring, and site-specific safety protocols are used to manage these exposures; additional certification (e.g., 40-Hour HAZWOPER) is required for higher-hazard site work Other duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
