Job Description The Delivery & Transfer Manager oversees all delivery and transfer operations for a five-store furniture chain. This role manages the delivery team and two trucks, plans and participates in daily delivery routes, coordinates inter-store transfers, and ensures that merchandise is handled safely and arrives in perfect condition. This person is both a working manager (on the truck and on the floor) and the key point of contact for customers regarding delivery scheduling and issues. Qulifications • 3+ years in delivery, logistics, warehouse, or related operations, preferably in furniture or large-item delivery., • 1+ year in a supervisory or lead role strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities 1. Delivery Operations & Routing • Plan and optimize daily delivery routes for two trucks to maximize efficiency and on-time performance., • Assign drivers and helpers to routes, balancing workload and coverage across all five stores., • Join delivery routes regularly as a driver or helper, especially on high-volume or complex days., • Monitor same-day changes, cancellations, and add-on deliveries; adjust routes as needed. 2. Inter-Store Transfers & Logistics • Schedule and execute transfers of furniture between stores based on inventory and sales needs., • Coordinate with visuals managers to prioritize which items move where and when., • Track transfer paperwork so inventory records stay accurate and up to date. 3. Team Leadership & Training • Supervise the delivery team (drivers and helpers), including scheduling, time off requests, and daily assignments., • Train team members on safe lifting, packing, loading, assembly, and customer service expectations., • Conduct regular ride-alongs and performance check-ins; coach for speed, safety, and professionalism., • Address performance issues and escalate disciplinary matters in line with company policies. 4. Customer Communication & Service • Call customers to confirm delivery dates, time windows, and any special access needs (elevators, narrow stairways, etc.)., • Serve as the primary contact for delivery-related customer questions, changes, or complaints., • Ensure the delivery team provides a professional in-home experience, including set-up and placement of furniture., • Work with ops manager and sales team to resolve damage claims, missed deliveries, or rescheduling needs. 5. Merchandise Care & Damage Prevention • Establish and enforce standards for wrapping, padding, loading, and unloading furniture., • Inspect trucks before and after routes to identify potential damage risks (crowded loads, unsecured items, etc.)., • Investigate causes of damage and implement corrective actions to reduce future issues., • Work with warehouse and store teams to ensure furniture is stored, staged, and handled correctly in all locations. 6. Sales Floor & Store Support • Coordinate moving furniture on and off the sales floor (floor sets, seasonal resets, clearance moves, etc.)., • Assist store managers with rearranging displays, moving heavy items, and setting up special events or promotions., • Ensure delivery team supports store needs in between routes (e.g., assembling floor models, moving stock). 7. Truck, Equipment & Safety Management • Oversee basic maintenance for company trucks (regular services, inspections, cleanliness); arrange repairs as needed., • Ensure trucks have proper equipment (dollies, straps, pads, tools) and that it’s maintained and accounted for., • Enforce all company safety policies, including safe lifting techniques and driving standards. 8. Administration & Reporting • Maintain daily logs for deliveries, transfers, labor hours, and incidents., • Track key metrics (on-time delivery rate, damage rate, re-delivery frequency) and recommend improvements., • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new delivery team members., • Perform other related duties as assigned to support store and company operations. Qualifications • Experience:, • 3+ years in delivery, logistics, warehouse, or related operations, preferably in furniture or large-item delivery., • 1+ year in a supervisory or lead role strongly preferred., • Licenses & Driving Record:, • Valid FL driver’s license; clean driving record required., • Comfortable driving and backing up box trucks/straight trucks (up to 16 ft)., • Skills & Competencies:, • Strong route planning, time management, and organizational skills., • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold a team accountable., • Clear, professional communication with customers and coworkers., • Basic computer skills for routing, email, and reporting., • Problem-solver who stays calm under pressure and can pivot quickly when plans change., • Physical Requirements:, • Able to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy furniture (up to 100 lbs) on a regular basis., • Comfortable with frequent bending, twisting, standing, and climbing stairs while carrying items., • Able to work in a truck and warehouse environment in varying weather conditions., • Schedule:, • Must be available for a retail schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.Company DescriptionAt Adjectives, our mission is to inspire everyone to discover unique home furnishing style!
