Job Description DEPARTMENT: Golf Course Maintenance JOB TITLE: Assistant Equipment Shop Mechanic REPORTS TO: Equipment Manager / Golf Course Superintendent SCHEDULE: Full-Time (early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required) COMPENSATION: Hourly (overtime opportunities available) BENEFITS: Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, meals, uniforms, and golf privileges Burning Tree Country Club is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined, and detail-oriented Assistant Equipment Shop Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all equipment used in golf course maintenance is operating safely, efficiently, and at peak performance. Working closely with the Equipment Manager and Grounds team, this is a hands-on role that involves preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of turf equipment. Through attention to detail, organization, and a strong work ethic, the Assistant Equipment Shop Mechanic contributes directly to the quality and consistency of course conditions at Burning Tree. The Essentials (Core Responsibilities) • Assist in the maintenance and repair of golf course equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, and small engines, • Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, blade sharpening, lubrication, and inspections • Clean and maintain equipment to ensure proper function and longevity, • Assist in diagnosing mechanical issues and performing basic repairs, • Maintain organized shop space and equipment storage areas, • Track maintenance logs and assist with recordkeeping, • Prepare equipment for daily use by the grounds crew, • Ensure all tools and equipment are used safely and properly, • Assist with parts inventory and ordering as needed The Expectations (Performance & Professional Standards) • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and mechanical care, • Follow all safety procedures and equipment handling guidelines, • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment, • Work collaboratively with the Equipment Manager and Grounds team, • Be punctual and prepared for early morning shifts, • Communicate effectively regarding equipment issues and repairs, • Take initiative in identifying maintenance needs, • Maintain a positive, professional attitude at all times The Standards (Qualifications & Professional Conduct) Education & Experience • Previous experience with small engine repair, mechanical work, or related field preferred, • Entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude encouraged to apply Skills & Competencies • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and tools, • Ability to learn equipment maintenance procedures, • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, • Ability to follow instructions and work independently Physical Requirements • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds, • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods, • Ability to work in a shop environment and outdoors in varying weather conditions, • Ability to safely operate tools and equipment
