Job Description The Heritage Center of Holiday Health Care is a privately owned and operated nursing facility located on the north side of Evansville. We are currently seeking a Nurse Unit Assistant to help lead our unit and to provide the best quality care to our residents. We are looking for an individual that has a passion for long term care and understand the needs of the geriatric population. This individual will assist in compliance, admissions, and a variety of managerial tasks. We are seeking an experienced, innovative leader. RN or LPN are applicable. M-F Weekend on call rotation every 4th or 5th weekend Work the floor 3 days a week POSITION SUMMARY: The Unit Assistant is responsible for managing the delivery of resident care on their assigned unit to ensure the optimal level of physical, psychosocial and spiritual well- being for its residents. Learn more about the Heritage Center and Holiday Health Care culture by visiting our website or our Facebook page The Heritage Center & Horizons Rehabilitation POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, • Current licensure in the state of Indiana, • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, • Experience in nursing management of the geriatric resident, • Demonstrated ability to accurately assess and make sound nursing judgment, • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of nursing personnel Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job. The minimum requirements include: • Must be able to satisfactorily complete a physical., • Must be able to carry at least 50 lbs., and up to 100 lbs. with assistance., • Must be able to lift and transfer patients, using proper body mechanics., • Must be able to operate the necessary equipment, using proper body mechanics., • Attend necessary nursing meetings; stand up/falls, high risk, etc., • Communicate changes between all appropriate departments, • Monitors and directs compliance responsibilities; ensuring physician/telephone orders are current, checking of physician order accuracy, checking of MAR/TARS for upcoming month, admission/re-entry audits, • Provides employee coaching and disciplinary action as needed in compliance with facility polices, procedures, state/federal regulations and standards of care., • Perform admissions when needed; prepare discharges as needed, • Ensure Med A charting is complete, • Complete unit audit weekly, • Answer phone, • Support of the Antibiotic Stewardship Program, • Provides direct resident care as needed (answer resident’s alarms and call lights), • Assist with passing meal trays, • Schedule nursing staff, • Maintain forms in Nursing filling cabinets, as needed, • Put out weekly weight list, • Chart monthly weights, • Protects the privacy or residents and team members, • Upholds the rights and privileges of all residents and reports when it is suspected that they are not upheld, • Maintains a positive working relationship between all team members; nursing staff and other departments, • Maintains own competency through participation in facility in-service training, continued education opportunities and media sources, • Maintains high morale and work ethic, • Promotes positive guest relations, • Encourages team member personal and career development, • Promotes positive image of long-term care and demonstrates the facility’s philosophy, • Presents self in a positive professional manner and promotes the same in team members, • Complies with all organizational policies ethical business practices, • Functions as a C.N.A. and or Q.M.A. role when all other options are exhausted, • Performs other duties as deemed necessary by Nursing Administration, • Employees must meet the attendance and scheduling requirements of their position as an expected and essential duty of the position., • Due to the nature of our work, all employees are expected to demonstrate a reasonable degree of flexibility in covering extra shifts/hours, taking on-call, working over-time, and holidays
