Position Summary We are seeking a Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting to lead all accounting and financial reporting functions for our growing fuel and lubricant distribution business. This is a highly visible, strategic role responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting across high-volume, low-margin products while managing complex inventory, pricing structures, and strong internal controls across terminals, trucking, and customer billing operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role serves as a key business partner to executive leadership, supporting operational decision-making, margin analysis, and scalable financial processes. Key Responsibilities • Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting team supporting fuel, lubricant, and related product lines, • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, inventory accounting, and fixed assets, • Direct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and margin integrity, • Ensure proper accounting for fuel inventory, rack purchases, pricing differentials, freight, taxes, and terminal fees, • Maintain compliance with GAAP, fuel tax regulations, and applicable state and federal requirements, • Establish and enforce internal controls related to inventory, pricing, credit, and cash management, • Coordinate external audits, fuel tax filings, and regulatory reviews, • Partner closely with operations, logistics, and sales leadership on margin reporting and profitability analysis by customer, route, and product, • Support the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, • Drive process improvements and system enhancements, including ERP, dispatch, and pricing system integrations, • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred), • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role, • Industry experience in fuel distribution, lubricant distribution, trucking/logistics, commodities, or bulk inventory businesses strongly preferred, • Strong understanding of inventory accounting, margin analysis, and high-transaction environments, • Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting, • Proven experience in budgeting, financial statements, and cash flow modeling, • Deep knowledge of GAAP, audit management, fuel tax compliance, and internal controls, • Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems (fuel/dispatch system experience is a plus), • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, • Direct partnership and exposure to the CFO and executive leadership team, • Opportunity to lead, modernize, and scale the accounting function, • Salary commensurate with skills and experience, • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, • Employer 401(k) match, • Paid holidays and paid vacationCompany DescriptionTop US & Canadian Suppliers of Oil and Gas Industrial LubricantsTop US & Canadian Suppliers of Oil and Gas Industrial Lubricants
