Job Description Golf Course Mechanic Green Valley Country Club – Fairfield, CA Full-Time | Non-Exempt | Reports to: Director of Agronomy Position Overview Green Valley Country Club is seeking a skilled and reliable Golf Course Equipment Manager to join our Agronomy Team. This individual is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall readiness of our fleet of turf equipment, utility vehicles, and small-engine machinery. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and committed to supporting exceptional course conditions for our members and guests. This position plays a vital role in our daily operations by ensuring all equipment is safe, functional, and ready for use. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all turf equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility carts, and small engines., • Diagnose mechanical issues and execute timely repairs to minimize equipment downtime., • Sharpen, adjust, and maintain reels, bedknives, and cutting units to ensure high-quality performance., • Maintain accurate service logs and records for all equipment., • Ensure all equipment is cleaned, lubricated, and stored properly at the end of each day., • Communicate proactively with the Director of Agronomy and Assistant Superintendent & team about equipment status and required repairs., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized equipment shop and parts inventory., • Follow all OSHA and club safety protocols., • Assist in training staff on proper operation and daily care of equipment., • Support agronomy operations during major events, tournaments, or emergencies when needed., • Perform occasional welding and fabrication to repair or improve equipment components. Qualifications Required • 2–3 years of experience as a mechanic (golf course, small engine, automotive, agricultural, or related field)., • Strong troubleshooting skills with engines, hydraulics, reels, and electrical systems., • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines., • Basic computer literacy for recordkeeping and diagnostics., • Valid driver’s license., • Prior experience as a Golf Course Equipment Technician or similar role., • Education or certification in mechanics, small engine repair, or automotive technology., • Experience with Toro, John Deere, Jacobsen, or Watertronics equipment., • Ability to operate golf course maintenance equipment. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in varying weather conditions, and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods., • Manual dexterity and mobility required to perform detailed mechanical work. The Club has hosted numerous USGA Championship Qualifiers, including the US Senior Open, the US Women’s Open as well as the US Amateur, Mid-Amateur, Senior Amateur and Women’s Senior Amateur. The golf course had several plans drawn up by Golf Course Architect Elmer Borders, but the course ultimately was opened in 1951 with the design being done by the caretaker of the Sidney Jones Ranch, a Mr. White. He utilized plywood and clay models to sculpt green contours and bunker shapes.
