American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Neuro ICU for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Neuro ICU, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 10/27/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Work in an 18-bed Neuro ICU within an acute care hospital setting, • Patient population includes strokes (with or without tPA), ventriculostomies, craniectomies, and acute neurological conditions, • Nurse:patient ratio is 1:2 in Neuro ICU, 1:3 when floated to intermediate, and 1:4 on general floors, • Travelers are required to float first and may float to any unit including intermediate or general floors, • Work schedule is three 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p) per week, with every other weekend and rotating holidays required, • Ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and titratable drips are commonly used, • Nurses read and interpret their own telemetry strips using Phillips monitors; telemetry tech is staffed on each shift, • EMR system used is Epic, • Responsibilities include managing acute neuro patients, performing stroke interventions, and providing ICU-level care, • You will be supported by a charge nurse (who may be free or take an assignment) and a 24/7 house supervisor, • Nurse aides or patient care techs are provided, working at a 9:1 ratio, • Unit-specific orientation includes 20 hours (1 eight-hour and 1 twelve-hour shift), • Travelers float first within the facility as needed, • Holiday rotations occur every other holiday, • Scrub color or dress code is not specified, • Local candidates are accepted but will be offered a local rate if residing within 50 miles\n \n Requirements\n, • Active IL RN license is required, • Minimum of 1 year ICU experience with neuro focus, • Current ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required, • NIH Stroke Scale certification required, • Experience with ventriculostomies, ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, tPA administration, and acute stroke management required, • Ability to titrate all types of drips as per physician orders, • Must be capable of working with ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment, • Experience with Epic EMR is required or preferred\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
