THE OPPORTUNITY The Payroll + Human Resource Assistant position will focus on concept-specific bookkeeping, including payroll, verifying reports, and onboarding employees. Office-admin duties will include miscellaneous duties as applicable. This position will be part-time [10-20 hours per week] and will focus on a variety of payroll and human resource-related tasks. RESPONSIBILITIES • Assistant to the Director of Human Resources and Accounting Manager., • Review and verify Daily Worksheets to complete the tip sheets., • Pull, print, cross reference, and audit that all information is correct on the Daily Worksheets., • Review time entries, clock-ins, and positions are all correct for all concepts., • Ensure Tips are allocated correctly., • Verify that Daily Worksheets match what is in Toast., • Communicate with concept Managers to verify any discrepancies/unknowns., • For USVI companies, verify Daily Worksheet and complete Tip Sheet., • For US Companies, verify that the Tip Sheet is correct., • At the end of each period, take the information from Tip Sheets for each concept and into the information into the spreadsheet that tracks data for form AD-27., • Responsible for pulling weekly Labor Summary reports and saving them into Dropbox., • Handle administrative & accounting duties; including day-to-day office tasks, communications, and accounting activities., • Ensure accurate and consistent financial reporting [daily, weekly, monthly]., • Meet regularly with Director of Human Resources + Accounting Manager., • Responsible for sending all New Hire Paperwork for hourly employees for all concepts through HR software, Bamboo., • Responsible for delegating out Onboarding tasks via Bamboo to new employees, managers, HR, and accounting., • Verifying all New Hire Paperwork is complete and communicating with new employees and concept managers., • Input New Hire information into payroll software, PayCor., • Complete special accounting-based + HR related projects as assigned or necessary for the success of the company., • Constantly evolving & contributing to the Ballast Hospitality Team by refining processes and bringing valuable ideas to the table for improved company & concept growth., • Complete job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with Ballast Hospitalitys standards. Job Description Assistant General Manager (AGM) Location: Islander 71 Fish House & Deck Bar | Isle of Palms, SC Status: Full-Time Reports To: General Managers About Islander 71 Located at the iconic Islander 71 Marina on Isle of Palms, Islander 71 Fish House & Deck Bar is a locally loved, high-volume waterfront restaurant known for fresh seafood, exceptional service, and a vibrant coastal atmosphere. With sweeping views, boat-up access, live music, and multiple bar and dining areas, Islander 71 has become one of Charleston’s top destinations for locals and visitors alike. The Role As Assistant General Manager, you will work closely with the General Managers to help lead daily operations, drive service excellence, support staff development, and maintain our high standards. You’ll play a key role in creating a well-run, positive, and profitable business—both front and back of house—ensuring a seamless experience for our guests and team. Key Responsibilities · Support the GMs in overseeing daily floor & event operations, ensuring smooth FOH/BOH communication and exceptional service · Step in as the acting manager-on-duty when GMs are off-site · Lead pre-shift meetings, coach staff in real-time, and provide ongoing support and accountability to servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff · Address and resolve guest concerns with professionalism and care · Monitor labor and sales metrics, adjusting staffing as needed for efficiency · Assist in the execution of private events and large parties · Help uphold cleanliness, safety, and sanitation protocols across all service areas · Work closely with the GMs on hiring, onboarding, and training initiatives · Support scheduling, performance feedback, and disciplinary documentation as needed · Foster a positive team culture that aligns with Islander’s values and guest-focused mindset Qualifications · 2+ years of experience in a supervisory or AGM role in a high-volume restaurant · Strong leadership presence with a hands-on, lead-by-example style · Calm under pressure with strong conflict resolution and communication skills · Comfortable with POS systems, basic reporting, and team scheduling · Availability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed · A passion for hospitality, teamwork, and making people feel welcome · Must be able to pass a background check and cannot have a criminal record Why Join Us At Islander 71, we believe in growth, leadership development, and a people-first approach to hospitality.
