American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Phoenix, Arizona. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/15/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Work in an Adult ICU encompassing SICU, MICU, and Trauma ICU pods within an acute care setting, • Level 1 trauma, 40 beds per unit and 120 beds total, • Patient populations include medical, surgical, and trauma cases with common diagnoses such as sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, post-operative recovery, transplants, and trauma injuries, • RNs will titrate common ICU drips and are required to read and interpret their own cardiac monitor strips, • Equipment includes ventilators (Cervo I, Jets, Oscillators), CPAP, BiPap, and telemetry monitors, • Uses Cerner EMR; prior experience is preferred, • 12-hour shifts with self-scheduling (7-7), three weekend shifts every four weeks, and holiday coverage required per unit rotation, • ICU RNs will float among all ICU areas and may float to MedSurg/Tele and St. Joseph Westgate campus, • Unit orientation includes two shifts on the floor, • Main responsibilities include caring for critically ill medical, surgical, and trauma patients, titrating drips, and performing bedside procedures such as bronchoscopy and hemodialysis catheter placement, • Intensivists and respiratory therapy staff are present in the ICU 24/7, • RNs are expected to maintain sterile field and demonstrate competency in key procedures during SIMs Lab; failure may result in termination of assignment, • Dress code is navy scrubs, natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must be clean-shaven for fit testing, • Travel teams must have their own vehicles, • Pass/fail exams on day 1 of orientation include sterile technique and basic ICU skills, • RNs are expected to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary ICU team, • First-time travelers will be considered if all requirements are met\n \n Requirements\n, • Active AZ or compact RN license at time of consideration, • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in a 600+ bed teaching facility, • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (no pending certifications accepted), • Level 1 trauma experience required, • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed), • Must pass a Day 1 SIMs Lab skills assessment on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, • Must provide two professional references (one supervisor from past 12 months, another peer or supervisor from last 3 years), • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (DL used to verify address), • Cannot have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
