Job Description Aerotek is hiring Packaging Operator 1st & 2nd shift Responsibilities • Operate packaging and bagging machinery to fill, weigh, seal, and label bags of product according to established standards., • Accurately weigh bags using basic math skills to ensure each bag meets specified weight requirements before placing them on skids., • Lift and move 50 lb bags repeatedly throughout the shift while maintaining safe lifting techniques., • Handle, stack, and organize finished product on pallets to prepare for storage and shipment., • Follow all FDA and food and beverage manufacturing regulations, including food safety and quality procedures., • Wear required personal protective equipment, including protective shoes, respirator when needed, hairnet, beard net, lab coat, ear plugs, and safety glasses., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, performing housekeeping tasks during downtime to support sanitation and safety standards., • Support quality control by visually inspecting product and packaging for defects and reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel., • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and support an efficient, safe, and inclusive work environment., • Comply with all safety requirements and guidelines, including restrictions on jewelry, facial hair, nails, and false eyelashes in the FDA-regulated environment., • Stand for the majority of the shift in a hot production area and adapt to working in different packaging rooms or coolers as needed., • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 lb bags for the duration of the shift., • Ability to stand on your feet for most of a 12-hour shift in a hot work environment., • Basic mathematical skills to accurately weigh bags and verify correct weights., • Previous experience in a food and beverage manufacturing or FDA-regulated environment., • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a physically demanding production or general production role., • Strong commitment to quality control and attention to detail in all packaging tasks., • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and support group production goals., • Willingness and ability to be trained and certified on forklift equipment for future responsibilities., • Ability to comply with food safety requirements, including shaving as needed for respirator use, and removing jewelry and piercings., • Ownership of protective shoes with steel or composite toes., • Prior experience as a packaging operator, machine operator, loader, packer, or in general food production., • Experience working in an FDA-regulated facility with strict sanitation and safety standards., • Familiarity with operating production or packaging machinery in a manufacturing setting., • Comfort working in environments with strong odors and varying temperatures, including coolers around 50 degrees., • Willingness to maintain workplace cleanliness and perform housekeeping tasks during downtime. This is a full-time role in an FDA-regulated food production facility with 1st and 2nd shift options: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., typically on a 3 days on / 3 days off schedule with no rotating shifts. You will work in hot production areas as well as packaging rooms and coolers that are about 50 degrees year-round, in a damp environment with strong, sour yeast odors throughout the facility. The workplace follows strict food safety and FDA regulations, which means no jewelry, artificial nails, false eyelashes, or piercings that cannot be removed. You must be able to wear full uniforms and respirators as necessary, along with required personal protective equipment such as hairnet, beard net, lab coat, ear plugs, and safety glasses, all provided by the facility. Protective steel or composite toe shoes are required and must be supplied by you. The environment is physically demanding, team-oriented, and highly focused on cleanliness, safety, and product quality. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
