Detailed responsibilities: • Reviews inpatient medical records to assign and sequence all appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes utilizing encoder software and following official coding guidelines. Reviews Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MSDRGs) and All Patient Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (APRDRGs) for appropriate code assignment., • Reviews and validates accuracy of Admission-Discharge-Transfer (ADT) data fields; abstracts discharge disposition, physicians, procedure dates, and present on admission (POA) indicators., • Reviews appropriate inpatient coding work queues daily to address coding edits and needed corrections and follows procedure to notify billing as needed. Reviews accounts and performs needed correction for internal audits and external denials., • Formulates physician queries for validation of pathological findings. Requests clinical validation queries for Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) review and follow-up. We focus on the lower extremities and perform mostly venous insufficiency studies and arterial vascular ultrasounds. Occasionally upper extremity DVT or arterial ultrasounds are performed. Will train to assist with sterile procedure prep and scan. RVT preferred but willing to allow grace period to obtain. No weekends, No call, No Holidays . Venous reflux studies are performed with the patient in the standing position. We have assistive devices for augmentation. Details • Perform diagnostic vascular examinations according to IAC standardized laboratory protocols and methods in operating ultrasound equipment, and PACS system., • Perform diagnostic vascular examinations, recognizing structures while differentiating artifacts from appropriate structures while recognizing the limitations of the equipment and knowledge of anatomy and physiology., • Escorts patients to the exam room.
