Position Summary The Alumni Relations & Career Transitions Manager provides personalized support to alumni and firm lawyers navigating career changes. This role helps connect candidates with relevant opportunities, maintains alumni-focused career platforms and databases, and supports the promotion of the firm’s alumni job board as a value-added resource for clients and partners. The Manager also oversees career-related content, provides user support, and manages projects related to platform enhancements and resource development. In collaboration with internal teams and external partners, this role contributes to the visibility, functionality, and strategic integration of the firm’s career transitions initiatives. Job Duties and Responsibilities Provide personalized support to firm lawyers, alumni, and other firm-affiliated individuals exploring new career opportunities, including job search strategies and resources. Build and maintain relationships with candidates to support recruitment for client roles and other strategic positions. Manage and update a comprehensive database of open positions. Build and maintain relationships with alumni, recruiters, and other strategic contacts to expand talent pipelines and source high-quality job leads and referrals. Provide resume, CV, and cover letter guidance, LinkedIn profile feedback, and interview preparation support for firm lawyers navigating career transitions. Support efforts to promote the Career Transitions program and alumni job board as a value-added resource for partners to share with clients seeking qualified candidates. Maintain and update the career transitions database and the career support section of the alumni network platform, including career development resources. Develop communications to promote alumni platform engagement, and provide basic user support and troubleshooting assistance to alumni users as needed. Project manage platform upgrades and enhancements, track progress, and deliver results. Identify trends, define metrics, and produce analytical reports to support career transitions initiatives. Ensure accuracy and compliance with data privacy policies across all databases and platforms. Develop and produce communications, including webinars, social media posts, and related content, to promote the firm’s alumni relations and career transitions programs and overall engagement. Collaborate across departments and manage stakeholders effectively to increase program visibility internally and externally, and to support continued integration into firm processes and programming. Support additional projects related to the firm’s alumni relations and career transitions initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Juris Doctor (J.D.) strongly preferred. An advanced degree in a related field such as marketing, business, or communications is a plus (e.g., M.B.A.). Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of experience working in a law firm learning and development department, law school career services office, or other role providing career services to lawyers or law students. Minimum of four (4) years of experience working with databases and performing quality control of data entries. Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing and executing communications campaigns and accompanying deliverables. Deep market knowledge and understanding of the business and legal landscape. Working knowledge of project management, customer relationship, pipeline, and experience management platforms such as SharePoint, Salesforce, Foundation, and LinkedIn Recruiter preferred. Experience working with sensitive or confidential information. Experience presenting to peers and senior management in professional or client-facing settings. Skills: Excellent writing, copywriting, proofreading, and critical thinking skills. Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments, build trust, and adapt messaging to different audiences. Highly organized, with close attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy across deliverables. Ability to think creatively and generate new ideas to improve engagement, outreach, or operational effectiveness. Skilled in conducting internet-based research to support career programming, content development, and outreach initiatives. Demonstrated analytical thinking and creative problem-solving capabilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint (for visual presentations) and Excel (for reporting and analysis). Experience with, or the ability and willingness to learn, design tools used to create charts, graphs, and other visual materials. Working Conditions: Works in typical office setting and/or remotely. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule. Pay Ranges: This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith’s pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
