Job Description The role This is a design-first role for a designer who can also write. Roughly three quarters of your week is design and web production. The rest is writing the copy that goes with your work: the headline on the banner, the subject line and body of the email, the social post, the text on the landing page. We are not asking you to be a full-time copywriter. We are asking you to own the words on what you design, so a piece can go from brief to finished without a handoff. You will sit next to our Director of Marketing, who sets creative direction and owns video, podcast and higher-level design. You will take the daily creative load: website updates, email, social, sales collateral, event graphics and the co-marketing work we produce for our manufacturer partners. We care about authenticity. Our imagery and copy should look and sound like a real company that knows controls, not like a template or an AI prompt. We do not use Canva, and this role is built for someone who designs in Adobe Creative Cloud. What you will do Design (most of the role) • Design campaign, email, social, digital ad and website graphics from brief to final file., • Build sales collateral, line cards, pitch decks, flyers and one-pagers for our sales team., • Produce trade show and event graphics, including pull-up banners and print pieces, and prepare files for print., • Create original imagery: compose, retouch and illustrate rather than defaulting to generic stock or AI-generated images., • Apply Alps Controls brand standards consistently and help build reusable templates and a clean, organized asset library. Website updates • Build and update landing pages, category pages, banners and promotional content in our website CMS., • Keep site content current: swap seasonal and campaign assets, fix outdated copy and images, and publish on schedule., • Handle basic page layout, image optimization and simple SEO hygiene such as alt text, titles and headers. Manufacturer marketing • Produce the deliverables in our manufacturer co-marketing programs: featured emails, web banners, brand spotlights, product launches and social features., • Partner with our Vendor Marketing Specialist to meet program commitments on time, and follow each manufacturer's brand guidelines alongside ours., • Track what was delivered to each manufacturer so proof of performance is easy to pull. Writing the copy that goes with your work • Write headlines, subheads, calls to action, email subject lines and body copy, social posts, banner text and short web copy., • Turn manufacturer spec sheets and product information into short, clear, accurate copy for contractors and integrators., • Edit and tighten copy handed to you so it fits the layout and the audience., • Proofread everything you produce. Typos and wrong part numbers cost us credibility with technical buyers. Long-form and technical content, such as application guides and engineering-validated pieces, stays with the Director of Marketing and our specialist writers. You will work from our messaging guide, and the team will review your copy closely while you learn our products and audiences. How you will work • Manage your request queue in Asana, set realistic turnaround times and keep work moving without being chased., • Take creative direction from the Director of Marketing and bring your own ideas to the table., • Work on-site every day with the team. Much of the job is quick, in-person collaboration. What you need Required • Three to five years of professional graphic design experience, in-house or agency., • Expert command of Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Acrobat for print and PDF production., • A strong design portfolio built by you in professional tools., • Solid short-form writing: clean grammar, a good headline, a tight email, and the judgment to cut words that do not earn their place., • Experience updating websites through a CMS., • Print production knowledge: bleeds, color modes, file prep and working with printers., • Strong organization and follow-through across many small, deadline-driven projects at once., • Ability to work on-site at our Pittsburgh area headquarters full-time. Nice to have • Copywriting experience in a marketing role, or a portfolio where you wrote the copy as well as designed the piece., • Basic HTML and CSS. HubSpot experience., • Premiere Pro or After Effects for simple motion and video edits., • B2B, industrial, HVAC or building automation experience, or a real interest in technical products., • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, marketing or communications, or equivalent experience. What will not fit If your design work is built mostly in Canva or generated mostly by AI image tools, this role is not a match. AI tools can help with speed on the edges. The finished imagery and copy you deliver must be original, crafted work. \nCompany Description Alps Controls is a building automation and HVAC controls parts distributor built like an online marketplace.
