Job DescriptionManual / Conventional Machinist Pay: $25–$35/hr (flexible based on experience) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM Location: Baldwin, FL area About the Company A well‑established industrial job shop specializing in custom machining and repair work for heavy‑duty equipment. The team supports large turbines, electric motors, generators, and other rotating equipment used in industries such as paper mills, sugar mills, power plants, and similar operations. Work is highly customized, hands‑on, and non‑repetitive. A key specialty of the shop includes producing and repairing Babbitt bearings, which make up a significant portion of the workload. Position Summary The shop is seeking an experienced Manual/Conventional Machinist to join their skilled team. This role involves setting up and operating traditional machining equipment to produce precision components. Ideal candidates come from a job shop environment and are comfortable with custom, one‑off machining projects. Experience with large industrial components or Babbitt bearings is a major plus. Key Responsibilities • Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and other conventional machining equipment, • Machine custom parts including cylinders, bearings, and turbine-related components, • Repair and machine components for electric motors and generators, • Perform Babbitt bearing pouring, machining, or repair (training available if needed), • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders, • Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools, • Work independently on varied, non-repetitive machining jobs, • Maintain a safe and clean shop environmentQualifications, • 3+ years of experience as a manual/conventional machinist, • Experience in job shop or custom machining, • Experience with large industrial components (preferred), • Babbitt bearing experience is a strong advantage, • Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools, • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
