Job Description Job Summary Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Porter will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and general upkeep of the facility, as well as assisting with light maintenance duties. Who You Are: • A High School Diploma, GED, plus two (2) years’ related experience (required); or an equivalent combination of education and experience., • Experience in groundskeeping, janitorial work, and non-mechanical maintenance/repairs., • Understanding of the provision of and commitment to trauma informed care and positive youth development, • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license., • Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required Must have and maintain operation of a smart phone that supports necessary applications and maintain a phone service to respond to emergency calls, emails, and maintenance requests., • Must be insurable as a driver on Urban Peak’s auto liability policy in order to conduct business on behalf of the agency or transport youth using an Urban Peak vehicle and an approved personal vehicle., • Must pass both federal and state background checks., • Ability to pass pre-employment physical, and TB Screening What You Will Do: The duties of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with your supervisor, and/or in coordination with other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned. Exterior • Regular emptying (every 1-2 days) of trash cans in front of the building and in courtyard., • Regular power washing (every 1-3 days) of front sidewalk and stairs, as well as courtyard. Power washing may also include graffiti removal from exterior building surfaces., • Regular rinsing of trash containers in front of building and in courtyard. Interior • Regularly empty trash and recycling from all communal programming and administrative spaces on all four floors of the Mothership building., • Regularly refill hand soap, restock paper towels and restock toilet paper in all communal bathrooms on all four floors of the building., • Serve as primary onsite contact for Alsco laundry service – bagging dirty linens in time for weekly pick up and receiving/distributing fresh linens., • Serve as primary point person for ordering cleaning products from UP’s preferred vendor., • Service staff lounges on first and fourth floors of the building by emptying trash and recycling in staff work areas, kitchens and bathrooms. Clean staff kitchen regularly – sweep/mop floor, wipe surfaces & appliances, empty dishwasher, clean fingerprints off windows., • Sweep, mop and vacuum select floors in common areas, hallways and restrooms as needed, complimenting the work of UP’s overnight janitorial service., • Clean select glass doors, windows and mirrors as needed, complementing the work of UP’s overnight janitorial service., • Clean neighborhood dorm rooms between youth residents moving out and new residents moving in., • Empty trash and clean bathroom two times per week at the Human Resources office, occupied by three people and located across the street from Mothership., • Complete quarterly deep clean of Human Resources office. Groundskeeping • Daily collection of litter from ground/sidewalk in front of and encircling the building., • Light maintenance of plants and trees on property – i.e. stake young plants & trees; trim perennial plants in early spring; remove dead plants/weeds., • Monitor proper functioning of irrigation systems in front of building and on two terraces. Report problems to the maintenance team., • During winter weather, ensure front sidewalks, stairs and building entrance remain clear of snow and ice. Light Maintenance • Perform minor repairs throughout the building such as changing light bulbs, tightening door handles, small painting projects, outlet/switch repair, faucet/toilet/drain repair, patching wall scuffs., • Assist with room setups, moving furniture, or assembling equipment and furniture as needed., • Perform regular walkthroughs of facility to ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality. Report major maintenance issues to supervisor and maintenance team., • Identify hazards or safety issues and report to supervisor when necessary. Staff and Client Support • Communicate politely with clients, staff, visitors, and vendors., • Assist in emergencies as needed., • Assist with setup and breakdown of events. This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma-informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support, they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.
