Job DescriptionField Technician – Plumber – direct hire opportunity! 1st shift hours – 7am-3:30pmPay based on experience - $20-35/hour to start (license not required)Full benefits package offered Department: Service DepartmentReports To: Plumbing Field Supervisor or Service Manager SummaryThis individual is responsible for the assembly, installation, retrofit and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, cooling, water, and drainage systems utilizing accepted industry practices and theory.Job functions and duties (other duties may be assigned) • Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work required and sequence of installations., • Inspects the structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of the structure resulting from the installation of the pipe., • Locates and marks the position of pipes and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors., • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings., • Cuts and threads pipe., • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay and plastic., • Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, pro-press and caulks joints., • Fill pipe systems with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking., • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners., • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains., • Synthesizes complex or diverse information and uses intuition and experience to complement data., • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations by using good communications skills., • Three years of experience working as a plumber doing service calls, repairs, and remodels. Experience working in the commercial sector is highly preferred., • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals., • Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages, as well as draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability, • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, schedule, oral or diagram form., • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
