Job Description DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt Department: Development Reports to: Director of Development Salary: $62,000 - $67,000 Schedule: Hybrid - 2 Days in office (W/Th) 9:30am – 5:30pm THIS IS A NEW YORK CITY BASED ROLE ABOUT HER JUSTICE Her Justice is a nonprofit organization that advocates for and with women and gender diverse people living in poverty in New York City. We recruit and mentor volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help in the areas of immigration, family, and matrimonial law to address individual and systemic legal barriers. 100% of our clients are living in poverty in the five boroughs of New York City. In FY2024, 92% of our clients were women of color, 85% were survivors of intimate partner violence, 70% were mothers, and 49% spoke a primary language other than English. Since 1993, we’ve provided life-changing free legal help to over 45,000 women and children and we’ve pursued policies that have bettered the experiences and outcomes for hundreds of thousands more. SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Coordinator provides essential administrative, logistical, and communications support, playing a pivotal role in the Development team's success. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and mission-driven individual to directly contribute to fundraising efforts that advance justice and equity for women and gender diverse people in New York City. The Development Coordinator is instrumental in providing the support needed to ensure the team functions efficiently and effectively. That includes seamless event coordination, timely donor communications, preparation of meeting materials, maintaining donor records, and overall department administration and support. They collaborate closely with colleagues across the organization and often serve as a point of contact for external supporters including individual donors, our Annual Benefit Committee, and our Junior Advisory Board, embodying the organization's commitment to its mission and culture of top-notch customer service. RESPONSIBILITIES Event & Campaign Support (30%) • Provide robust logistical and administrative support for all fundraising and cultivation events and campaigns, including invitation management, sponsorship coordination, RSVP tracking, and day-of coordination., • Support the Director of Development in all aspects of managing the volunteer fundraising committee for the Annual Benefit, including scheduling and attending weekly calls, organizing prospect list, and coordinating follow up., • Research vendors and manage vendor relationships., • Attend and participate in event site visits., • Support the strategic execution of mailings, targeted donor outreach, and compelling fundraising appeals including coordination of lists and materials., • Draft engaging and personalized donor thank-you notes, event follow-ups, and strategic stewardship communications., • Help maintain up-to-date donor materials, bios, and key talking points to ensure consistent messaging., • Maintain meticulous donor records within the fundraising database and assist with general data entry as needed (Raiser’s Edge). Junior Advisory Board (20%) • Support the Director of Development in all aspects of managing the Junior Advisory Board, ensuring timely communication and relationship management., • Schedule and attend board meetings (in-person and virtual) and other Junior Advisory Board events, take meeting minutes, prepare meeting materials and follow up. General Support (20%) • Provide direct administrative support to the Director of Development and the Head of Development and Communications., • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and cross-functional projects., • Provide administrative support to the broader Development team as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork., • Assist in organizing and maintaining development files, calendars, and grant documents. QUALIFICATIONS Required • 2-3 years of relevant experience (including internships) in nonprofit development, fundraising, event coordination, or administrative support., • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to prioritize effectively., • Superior attention to detail and a demonstrated capacity to accurately manage multiple tasks concurrently., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clear, concise, and professional correspondence., • Comfort with Microsoft Office and donor database systems (Raiser’s Edge preferred)., • Experience with fundraising software (Raiser’s Edge, Mailchimp, Classy, etc.)., • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising best practices., • Knowledge of NYC philanthropic and legal services communities is a plus. WORK ENVIRONMENT • Hybrid with 2 days a week in office required (subject to change based on business needs)., • Local travel required to attend meetings with volunteers and/or vendors., • Travel to conferences or event spaces may also be required.
