Job Description Why American Heritage Lending: American Heritage Lending is in search of highly motivated and customer-centric individuals to join our team as Loan Originators. We are looking for sales professionals who are dedicated to enhancing the customer experience and adept at sourcing and fostering strategic relationships. Successful candidates will demonstrate a proven track record of achieving $1-3 million or more in monthly origination volume. Position Overview: VP Compliance & Quality is a leadership role responsible for the design, execution, and oversight of the company’s regulatory compliance, quality control, audit, and risk management framework across all lending activities. This role ensures full compliance with federal and state regulations, investor guidelines, and internal policies while driving a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. The role has direct ownership of Compliance, Quality Control, Audits, AML/SARs, and serves as the primary executive interface with regulators, auditors, investors, and executive leadership. Essential Duties & Core Responsibilities include: Enterprise Compliance Oversight • Own and manage the company’s compliance management system (CMS) across federal, state, and local regulatory regimes., • Oversee disclosure review, testing, and audit functions to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant borrower disclosures., • Monitor and interpret regulatory updates (CFPB, FTC, DOJ, HUD, state regulators, etc.) and translate changes into actionable policy, process, and system updates., • Lead annual policy reviews and updates, ensuring policies remain current, defensible, and operationally implemented., • Design, deliver, and oversee compliance training programs, ensuring policies are understood, adopted, and enforced throughout the organization., • Serve as executive owner of state examinations and regulatory audits, including preparation, response management, remediation, and regulator communications., • Own the company’s BSA/AML compliance program, including SAR identification, escalation, filing, and documentation., • Ensure appropriate monitoring, controls, and governance for fraud, money laundering, and suspicious activity risks., • Oversee pre-funding quality control audits to ensure loan eligibility, guideline adherence, and risk mitigation prior to funding., • Manage post-closing quality control audits, including agency, investor, and internal QC requirements., • Lead EPD (Early Payment Default) and delinquency file audits, identifying trends, root causes, and corrective actions., • Drive continuous improvement in credit quality, underwriting consistency, and defect reduction., • Build, lead, and mentor high-performing teams across Compliance, Quality Control, Audit, and Risk., • Establish clear KPIs, reporting, and dashboards for executive leadership and the Board., • Partner with Legal, Operations, Capital Markets, Technology, and Product teams to embed compliance and quality into business growth. The VP of Compliance & Quality is responsible for ensuring the company operates in a legally compliant, defensible, and risk-managed manner across all jurisdictions and business lines. While not serving as legal counsel, this role owns the operational execution of the company’s legal and regulatory obligations and partners closely with internal and external legal advisors. Legal Responsibility & Oversight • Ensure company policies, procedures, and practices align with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including consumer protection, fair lending, privacy, and financial crimes statutes., • Act as executive owner for implementation and enforcement of legal requirements across Compliance, Quality Control, Credit, and Operations., • Partner with internal and external counsel to interpret laws, regulations, consent orders, and regulatory guidance and translate them into operational controls and policies., • Ensure appropriate documentation, record retention, and audit trails exist to support legal defensibility and regulatory examination readiness., • Serve as the primary executive lead for regulatory examinations, inquiries, subpoenas, and enforcement actions, coordinating responses with Legal and executive leadership., • Manage exam findings, MRAs, and consent-related remediation, ensuring timely corrective actions and validation., • Oversee responses to regulatory complaints, consumer complaints, and legal escalations, including root-cause analysis and systemic remediation., • Provide regular legal and regulatory risk reporting to executive leadership and the Board of Directors., • Support enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks by identifying, assessing, and reporting legal, regulatory, and compliance risks., • Ensure appropriate governance structures, committees, and escalation protocols are in place and operating effectively., • Partner with Legal and Procurement to ensure third-party vendors, service providers, and partners meet regulatory and legal compliance requirements., • Oversee compliance components of vendor due diligence, contract reviews, monitoring, and issue remediation., • Ensure adherence to consumer protection laws (UDAAP, fair lending, privacy, data security, and disclosure accuracy)., • Promote a culture of ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability across the organization., • Clean and timely regulatory exams and audits, • Reduction in audit findings, EPDs, and material defects, • Strong training adoption and policy adherence, • Effective issue remediation and risk mitigation Required • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in compliance, quality control, audit, or risk management within consumer and business purpose residential mortgage lending., • Deep working knowledge of federal and state lending regulations, investor requirements, and examination processes., • Proven experience leading state and federal exams, internal audits, and investor reviews., • Strong understanding of AML/SARs programs and financial crime risk management., • Prior experience as a VP at a multi-state residential Non-QM lender., • Experience scaling compliance and QC frameworks in high-growth or private-equity-backed environments.
