Job Description Job Title: Manager, Compliance Location: Irvine, CA Job Description: We are seeking a meticulous and strategic thinking Manager, Compliance to join our team. You will play a key role in ensuring that independent salespeople who choose to sell our products adhere to all relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of compliance regulations within the direct selling industry and the ability to interact effectively and successfully with all levels of the organization, both internal and external. You will be responsible for managing a team in monitoring and investigating potential policy and ethical violations, enforcing Arbonne’s Policies and Procedures, Code of Ethics and other rules, and providing guidance to independent salespeople to promote ethical and compliant business practices. This role will require you to support the Business Ethics & Sustainability Team (B.E.S.T.) in the compliance work that we provide to all markets where Arbonne conducts business. Compliance Monitoring, Investigation, and Resolution You will be responsible for the team that serves as the primary point of contact for compliance-related inquiries or reporting of potential policy violations from our independent salespeople or internal business partners, with a solution-focused and professional attitude, ensuring a positive experience for independent sellers and successful resolution of open issues. • Ensure the team manages a substantial compliance caseload every month, securing alignment and visibility of other departments, including the sales department and the legal department., • Provide clear and accurate guidance on compliance matters, ensuring our independent salespeople understand company policies and regulatory requirements related to their Arbonne business practices., • Effectively and appropriately communicate (including listening, verbal and written skills) with team members and internal stakeholders regarding compliance matters, open matters, reporting and other key metrics., • Monitor, review, and assess submissions of alleged compliance concerns related to ethical business practices, to determine what, if any, further action is required and when and whether to escalate concerns or recommend changes to practices., • Successfully address, investigate, and resolve compliance concerns or potential policy violations raised by independent sellers, or internal business partners, promptly and professionally., • Interview independent salespeople and other relevant parties as part of the investigation process in a timely, professional and appropriate manner., • Be able to successfully spot compliance issues when handling compliance related inquiries., • Be able to examine business practices and policies to identify areas of non-compliance and make recommendations for proactive change., • Monitor social media and other online channels to ensure the sale and promotion of the sales opportunity and products by independent sellers comply with company policies, direct selling regulations, applicable laws, and industry standards., • Effectively and appropriately communicate (including listening, verbal and written skills) with independent salespeople based on the unique variables of each situation., • Effectively document investigation findings and results, including recommendations for corrective actions and, if needed, recommendations for proactive change., • Effectively maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all investigations and enforcement actions for sound internal controls and effective follow up, as needed., • Present your findings or report compliance trends to senior management and provide strategic recommendations to prevent future violations. You must be able to quickly and accurately synthesize data from multiple sources in an easily approachable and digestible format., • You will work closely with other departments to ensure a unified approach to compliance, including the sales department and the legal department., • You will collaborate successfully with other internal departments, including the sales department and the legal department, to develop and lead periodic update of Arbonne internal policies, as needed. Reporting and Documentation • Manage monthly reports on compliance activities and trends., • Make recommendations proactively for better and more efficiencies across the team so as to enhance productivity., • Use analytics to identify emerging compliance trends and areas requiring strategic attention., • Manage the administration of the online digital and case management platform for continuous improvement of Arbonne's approach and efficiency in compliance management. Other Duties and Projects Depending on Business Needs • Be able to successfully lead and conduct audits of the business practices of independent salespeople to ensure compliance with company policies, direct selling regulations, applicable laws, and industry standards., • Review of material and content to ensure they meet regulatory, industry, and company compliance standards, created both internally and also generated by independent salespeople., • Create relevant compliance related training programs and tools that promote learning on demand by independent sellers. Provide feedback and recommendation as to how to strategically improve current training programs., • Support other compliance projects as dictated by business need. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree, • Deep understanding of FTC and FDA guidelines related to the direct selling industry., • Deep understanding and application of Arbonne’s policies, compensation structure, direct selling regulations, applicable laws, and industry standards to effectively and successfully manage diverse policy situations., • 10+ years of relevant experience in compliance, human resources, regulatory affairs, investigations, risk management, or a related field., • Excellent investigative, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail., • Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, and written) with the ability to interact successfully and effectively with internal business partners and independent salespeople at all levels of business., • Able to work independently and handle sensitive information with discretion., • Experience in managing a team, and setting department goals, objectives, and processes to align with the business., • Must be comfortable leading a team and promoting a cohesive team culture within a fast-paced and challenging work environment., • Must think outside the box, demonstrate the ability to think strategically, and adapt standard operating procedures using professional judgment based on experience and business needs while always adhering to legal requirements., • Strong organizational and project management skills., • Ability to proactively manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment., • Must be computer, internet, and social media savvy and be comfortable in a digital workplace.
