Job DescriptionJob Title: HVAC Technician Job Description The HVAC Technician installs, maintains, and repairs commercial HVAC systems while ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation. This role combines hands-on field work with technical diagnostics, documentation, and clear communication with clients regarding system performance and service needs. Responsibilities • Install HVAC systems in commercial environments, ensuring proper setup, configuration, and start-up., • Inspect HVAC equipment and components to identify wear, damage, or performance issues., • Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to maximize efficiency and extend equipment life., • Respond to and resolve emergency HVAC service calls in a timely and professional manner., • Diagnose system malfunctions using appropriate tools, instruments, and technical documentation., • Recommend effective repair solutions based on diagnostic findings and system requirements., • Replace defective components such as motors, compressors, thermostats, and related parts., • Monitor and adjust Building Automation Systems (BAS) to optimize performance and comfort levels., • Ensure all HVAC systems meet energy efficiency and safety standards, following applicable codes and best practices., • Use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment safely and correctly during installation and service work., • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical diagrams to guide installation and repair activities., • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and documentation for all jobs completed., • Communicate clearly with clients about service needs, repair options, system operations, and maintenance recommendations., • Collaborate with construction and field service teams when working on new installations or system upgrades.Essential Skills, • Proven experience in commercial HVAC service, including installation, maintenance, and repair., • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems related to HVAC equipment., • Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing HVAC system malfunctions., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical diagrams., • Hands-on skills using hand tools and basic construction tools for installation and repair work., • Experience performing preventive maintenance and field service on HVAC systems., • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and the ability to monitor and adjust system settings., • EPA certification for handling refrigerants., • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend effective repair solutions., • Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and team members., • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • High school diploma or equivalent., • Technical certification in HVAC or a related field is preferred., • NATE certification is a plus., • Experience working in commercial construction environments., • Ability to work independently in the field and manage time effectively., • Attention to detail in documentation, recordkeeping, and compliance with safety standards.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a field-based role working primarily in commercial facilities, including offices, industrial sites, and other large buildings. The position involves frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment, as well as interaction with Building Automation Systems. Work hours may include standard daytime shifts with occasional overtime or emergency callouts depending on client needs. The role requires working both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other equipment areas, and following all safety protocols and appropriate work attire for a technical field service environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
