Essential Functions • Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior., • Utilize background knowledge of biology, nature, and environmental science topics to deliver curriculum; includes teaching lessons and activities and ensuring that campers are meeting camp goals and learning educational materials., • Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to work with children in a camp atmosphere., • Exercise effective communication with parents and staff., • Manage camp classroom, ensuring lesson plans, activities, materials, and daily schedules are prepared and implemented to meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers., • Maintain attendance records and daily rosters; check campers in and out of camp daily., • Manage classroom environment, including camper behavior and health/wellbeing., • Lead and guide Camp Counselors during camp program activities., • Communicate daily happenings with parents during camper check-in and check-out; including behavior issues, first aid incidents, reminders, and other information., • Enforce camp rules and behavior policies; includes communicating camper issues with supervisors and parents., • Plan and implement daily activity schedule from provided list of materials., • Arrange, set-up, and/or break-down equipment, supplies, chairs, and tables in designated rooms or other areas for scheduled, games and programs., • Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communication as requested. Requirements Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: • Requires some college (at least 20 hours), with field of study in Education or the Natural Sciences preferred., • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in dealing with children ages 6-14 in a non-parental, but supervisory role such as a teacher, counselor, or camp director preferred., • Previous teaching/instructing experience strongly recommended., • Valid, Class "C" Texas Driver's License., • Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or the ability to obtain within two (2) months of hire date.
